The wire I am using is 0.139" outer diameter and it is sealing with a slight head of fuel above it. The material seems to be a nylon because I inadvertently hit it a few times installing the tank and it held up fine. The sealing o-ring is fairly small so you will probably need a selection of stepped bits to find the right size hole to drill.
As a side note I'm using mil spec PTFE 10 awg wire for its fuel resistance. Its not the perfect choice because fuel can seep through it like a siphon tube
