My Camry does not have all the fancy, multi, amplified, whoopty-doo sound system. Therefore, it is the Panasonic.
Replaced the stock, cheaply made, 2012 Toyota Camry rear deck Pioneer speakers. (To be honest, they are not marked Pioneer, but their coding and place of manufacture point to that Pioneer factory.)
Toyota uses some weird oval shaped speaker mount that actually has a round speaker in it. A cheap one cone two-way. All one-piece plastic. AND, Toyota mounting holes for the oval are NOT standard by any means or stretch of the imagination!! The hole is too large. Then you get into another $15-20 for adapters. Toyota again: the doors and rear deck oval mounts are NOT the same. WTH?
Anyway, a little Dremel work getting the round junk part out gets the old plastic mount. SOME say the remainder won't hold the solid metal mounts of this speaker. Not true. Those replacement adapters are plastic also.
Three holes lined up with easy places in the old plastic. I then drilled two more, giving me a 5-point secure mount. Since the bracket had the original deck mounting holes, it was easy to slip it under the deck shelf and lining without removing the whole thing again. (I had it out once for sound deadening.) Then you either need wiring adapters to plug into Toyota speaker harness ends and attach to the speaker. Only $5-6 so not worth messing with. The adapter spade adapters were slightly under sized. I cut them off and soldered directly to the spades on the speakers. One less loose fit to worry about.
One problem with original Toyota speakers is you really have to fade to the rear to hear them at all. Even if someone is sitting back there.
Since my front speakers are -88db sensitivity, I bought the -91db for the rear. That really should have doubled what I get from the front but it does not. If I had it to do again, I would opt for -94db which are hard to find.
That said, these are a definite improvement over stock. And, they are loud enough that a slight fade (one "notch") to Rear brings them into the system for the front seat.
Adding some foam baffles with two cut outs to the back of the speakers gave me the exposed trunk protection I wanted and a slight bass boost.
There is no--and will not be any--sub-woofer. Songs that have bass, have bass!!
