....the programming setup Instructions Are TERRRRRRIBLE. Hopefully, the manufacturer will spend $50-100 to get someone to properly write the instructions. A good technical writer would be able to bang out useable instructions with illustrations in an hour or two. One of the comments includes instructions that are better than the ones that come with the product. For instance, a 12-volt LIFEPO4 battery is "read" by this product as four (4) 3.2 batteries (4 x 3.2 - 12)....so you need to select 4 as the number of batteries that are connected. I have two 12-volt AGM batteries conne3ed in parallel, and I programed in that I had two batteries, but it didn't work....I had to enter ONE battery to make it work. Go Figure.

This was obviously designed for led acid and works well for that. The accuracy for LIFEPO4 is poor and does not track the percentage of charge. It's hard to find any instructions for this product that work, so playing with it for an hour finally came up with most of the function and how to program it. It's a confusing device but for led acid it works great.

followed directions to wire.

you cannot change the settings on the meter as directions tell you.

reads 100% all the time and the meter will not turn off as it says on directions.

drains the battery due to is not timing out and shutting off as the directions said.

Echoing another review that made my instal crap-simple!
Hopefully this saves you the aggravation I experienced trying to figure it out.
DO NOT MAKE YOUR FINAL INSTALLATION/MOUNT UNTIL YOU KNOW IT IS WORKING.

1) Attach the provided (very short) wire harness to DC power supply (battery) using your own wires and connectors to bridge the space from your battery to the harness.
2) Press and hold the Setting button while plugging the harness into the back of the meter. This gets you into programming mode.
3) By pressing the Setting button, select your battery type. Mine is lead acid so I selected "P".
4) Select the number of batteries. In the case of Lead Acid they assume you have 12 volt batteries wired in series. In my golf cart I have six 8-volt batteries for a total of 48 volts. When I first programmed it I entered "6" batteries and as a result it read the voltage correctly but the capacity indicated 0%. I later realized they are assuming 12 volt batteries. So 48 volts divided by 12 volts resulted in 4. I entered 4 batteries and it worked. Enter your equivalent number of 12 volt batteries and then long-press the function key. (Note the lithium battery settings assume your batteries are 3.7 V or 3.2V. Your math will be a little different.)
5) Now set how you want the display to act using the s-1 through s-5 settings. The Settings button toggles through the display options and Function sets each one. The five bars on the display from left to right are each associated with the options S1 to S5. Whether a bar is on or off in the display, indicates that setting is on or off.
6) Unplug the meter from the harness to have it save the settings you input.
7) Plug the meter back in. It should be working. If not, repeat the steps starting at number 2.
8) Only after you have it working, mount it in its permanent location.

The dash voltage meter on my mobility scooter only showed a level and not a digital voltage reading. The wave-level of the voltage was unreliable and I ended up with dead batteries a few times at inopportune occasions.

I could have got a new dash voltage meter, but I just felt it was not reliable in the long run. I am pretty good at wiring jobs, so I decided to buy these two voltage meters - assessing each battery.

Now I can see both the digital readout and the voltage level to better confirm where my battery energy levels are at. On my old scooter, I used to solely go by the digital readout on my display meter. So I am thrilled to have that ability once again.

I wired each one up so I could easily remove the wire terminals from the battery posts. The other advantage of these voltage meters is, you can push the on-button a third time to shut off the voltage meter. This way, there is no parasitic leakage of power. I just check the power levels at designated stops.

Oh and one more thing! I bought one of those portable power boxes. It’s only a 300 watt model, but at my half-way stop, I plug my charger cord into the power box and that brings up my voltage levels to easily get me back home after 1 to 1.5 hours.. I go into the Legion lounge for a beer and chat - then hop on my mobility scooter and away I go again. No gasoline costs to worry about - just a charged up battery. And with these reliable voltage meters, I can trust these.
