    Very cool diagram. If I'm reading this schematic properly the usb-c media support port also supports higher than 5amp charging because of the inclusion of a6,7,8 (vbus/gnd)? 65 watt laptop charging, possibly?

    No. The extra three pins are communication to the headunit.

    Interesting. Are they specifically for car play or just to relay information about what's attached to the port and what it's doing (charging for example) or?

    I looked up usb 3.0/3.1/3.2 pin and wire diagrams and was impressed with how different they are from usb-A or 2.0. I was unaware of the additional wires required for 3.0+ specs.

    The additional pins are to communicate device specs to the headunit.

    So, I ordered this from Savannah Toyota on 4/9 and JUST got confirmation of shipping 4/23.
    Customer service is non-existence, will not respond to emails requesting order status update and all that....

    Let's hope the unit arrives in good shape.

    It's the toughest part! It really takes something skinny skinny to get the first bit off. I used the skinniest part of my leatherman to get in where it was. The metal ruler with some tape over to stop scratching is probably better if you have something like that.

    I do have that, but I fear if the tape would add to the width and defeat the purpose.
