Doing its job! Nice catch....see what I did there?

Having a CC on a DI motor is a really good idea.

Congrats on the Frontier. I used to have one and loved that little truck. It was heavily modified and carried my FWC. If you take care of them, they last a long time.

Direction Injection is just that. Gas can cleanse the valves somewhat with port injection. Catch cans "catch" blow by and prevent it from fouling the valves on a DI motor over time.

I know that motor has been around for a few years now. Have you heard of when the valves are needing to be blasted at some point? Is it in the owners manual? I couldn't find anything on it, just wondering if you know. The catch can would probably push this service out a ways I'm guessing.

I will chime in on the frontiers, rented one when I was in hawaii for 2 weeks and man it was a comfortable, quiet and nicely geared (power) truck. I too would take that over a new tacoma just because I am not a fan at all of the new tacoma AT's gearing. Enjoy!

Motor is pretty new. 22 is 3rd model year with.. With top tier fuel and a catch can, I'm guessing 100K+ easy before walnut peening needed.

This new Frontier is the quietest truck I've ever owned. Cab is crazy quiet and comfortable. Nissan nailed it with the sound deadening and cab damping mounts.

I want to add that Nissan also decided to use laminate glass for the Frontier front driver and passenger door windows to cut down on outside noise. Hard to break though. Rear door window glass is the regular shatter proof. There's always a trade off.

A Prime just literally dropped off my 60W Rockpals solar panel. $140 and a Jackery 240WH. Refurbished for $180 with warranty. The Rockpals panel is wired parallel and comes with a Y cable to add another 60W panel to halve the charging time. Stoked. Perfect to power my F40C4TMP 20qt freezer. Ice cream off grid. Yes, I want to eat ice cream on my off grid property. So does Manny. Life is short.....ha!
    I will review.......

Been messing around with my Jackery 240wh. Didn't bother connecting the 60W solar panel. Afternoon thundercloud bs. Jackery was already at 100% but wanted to try out the charge thru with the 45W max load from my freezer. The freezer will draw 45W in MAX mode until temp hits programmed setting then drops to 1 or 2W. In ECO mode will draw 33W. Tried the 12V connection and then the 110VAC connection. I set the freezer for -0.2 F. Takes a bit of soak time to go that low. I ordered a 2nd 60W solar panel to use in parallel. I'm already thinking about getting a 500W LiFeP04 power station. Lithium Iron Phosphate battery tech. I'm into this now. $$$....kuul beans. Buy your power station according to what you will have drawing off it. Buy solar panels accordingly too. Remember.....power station Watt hour rating X 0.85/ the total max load=run time hours....easy peasy....

Hit -0.5 and freezer load dropped to 5W draw. Keep in mind....placement of the freezer is paramount. Shade is good. I keep saying freezer but it's a refer/freezer and heater up to 131 F. Doubt that I'll ever use the heat function.

I also bought some 5W Onite led lights. A single USB bulb and a dual bulb set that uses a "y" USB connector. Low draw and 5W is actually decent in a tent. Long cables too. Stoked. $10 for the single and $20 for the dual combo set. Each bulb has a metal hanger. Beware of knock offs that have a short cable and a cheesy plastic hanger that will easily break.

I'm warming it back up to 32F. Only drawing 4W. Ice cream and Jolly GG veggies back in my house chest freezer. Jackery been used for only 3.25 hours. Not bad including soak time to hit -0.5F. Real world....I'd pre-soak freezer in house prior to leaving to my property. Switch to Jackery while driving. Switch to solar once I arrive at my property. I'm liking this...

Sunny afternoon so the 60W Rockpals solar panel is out and connected to the Jackery which is at 62% charge. Panel is putting out 50 to 52W. Decent. Will see how long a full charge will take....keep in mind the 60W rating is under ideal laboratory conditions. My 2nd panel is on its way.

My 2nd 60W Rockpals solar panel was $99.98. Rockpals gave me a $42 price adjustment on my 1st panel. Kuul beans! Check out Rockpals.com. I'm looking at the new Freeman LiFeP04 battery 500W/panel combo.

FYI....my 1st solar panel was missing the parallel y cable to connect an additional 60W panel. Rockpals sent me the cable today on their shipping dime.

    Update.....started charging the Jackery at 3:05. 62%.
4:45.....the Jackery 240Wh reached 97% and it's internal MPPT solar panel voltage regulator/controller shut down the input current from the solar panel to prevent overcharge. Input read 0W. Quite pleased. 35% gain in 1.75 hours of solar charging. Not bad at all and very typical with the single 60W panel. Two 60W panels in parallel will halve the charge time. On a sunny day with full exposure I can expect 90W to 100W's from the dual solar panel setup. Nifty!

I'm tempted to start a portable power station/solar panel thread if there isn't one already.....

I was never very good at maths but wasn't your charge time only 1.66 hrs?
Regardless, it's a very cool setup and I appreciate you posting all the info about it.

Manny and I went out this morning to look for more petrified wood. Did good. Found some rare palm which is a plus and a real, real nice colorful piece........real nice......

I was given a 2019 frontier as a rental when my tundra was in the body shop last month. Some jerk hit my parked truck and drove off. Didn’t get his plates unfortunately. I was pleasantly surprised at the ride, acceleration, and my wife and two kids really liked the smaller size.

I test drove a loaded sv crew cab today and really liked it. Super quiet on the freeway. Comfortable seats. Even more space in the second row for my kids compared to the rental. I wish it had a telescoping steering wheel.

There’s a white pro 4x coming in later this month. I’m teetering on taking it.

Not having a telescoping steering wheel is a bummer but certainly not a deal breaker at all. I have over 6K miles on my CrewCab SV and no regrets buying it at all. Not a gas hog. A pleasure to drive actually!
