I would research pin weight of a 5th wheel and how that correlates with the GVWR.

Nice Whitehawk! I picked up a 2018 Jayco 23rls last may, but man I was tempted by those Whitehawks. Make sure you check your sink fittings and water pump fittings if its brand new.

How is it towing a travel trailer with a Tundra? Doesn't look fun.

I just bought a Jumping Jack for our family adventures. We can’t wait to hit the trails in our covered wagon! I have only towed it a couple hundred miles, but it was over Donner Pass in a snow storm and everyone made it out alive...

Trap connection under sink was hand tight and leaking, so I checked all connections. Besides that, it's been good so far.

Towed a buddy’s dump trailer today on a 300 mile trip. The first I have been able to use the factory brake controller and it worked great.D8952A6F-FBFD-46F2-A89C-944596CFA652.jpg

That's my old 5th wheel,9100lbs. Now we have a 28ft bumper pull 7500lbs. This allows us to put all the bikes on top of my hard cover gear in the bed. 20150427_125609.jpg

Fortunately, nothing since i got my Tundra.
I do have the tow package and the hiden 5th wheel receiver, so im ready at least. That reminds me, i have an old airstream. Maybe that in the near future.

This was when I first picked up my camper. This was also when I thought I might need a bigger truck, but the tundra pulls it no problem. But it does make my truck look small

It is listed as a 33 foot but total is 36'9. It only weighs 8300 dry. It probably gets close to 10k when it's all loaded
Edit, the jack is down. They were fitting the WD hitch to the truck in that pick.

That's not as heavy as I thought. My boat on the trailer with fuel is about the same, but a very different shape. I'd be most concerned with windage towing a travel trailer.

How well does your Tundra do with your trailer? How far have you towed it?

So far it has done very well. I have not driven on a large highway yet, all the best spots are back roads from my house. But I have towed it just over 3 hours from my house on very rough roads. It does pretty good, I am thinking of doing air bags to help when going over the bumpy roads. And other than needing to increase the pressure in the Goodyear duratracs I haven't done anything to the truck. I get a little heavy on the throttle when towing and still manage to get around 10 mpg when hauling

@Elevatormatt , I pull the same size TT with my 2015. I have a WDH with sway control and Hellwig helper springs with minimal squat . Are you running anything like spring or airbags? How is yours all hooked up?

Totally stock suspension. I am thinking of getting air bags, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I am running a WDH with sway control. I don't have any pictures, and my camper is covered in a foot of snow right now. But the hitch is the style with the solid square tubes. First trip this year I will be sure to snap more pics. This forum has made me realize that I don't take nearly enough pics of my truck doing truck things.

I purchased a Winnebago Micro Minnie 2405RL. 5,500 pounds dry weight with torsion bar suspension. I added a B&W gooseneck drop ball hitch and use the Anderson Ultimate hitch adaptor along with Firestone RideRite air bags. Great set up!

Honest question here, with that small of 5th wheel do you feel the improved towing out ways the loss of bed space? Lots of things I dont want in the TT, especially going home after beach trip. my TT

I'm not sure what you mean by a loss of bed space. To me, the only loss of space is head room above the queen size bed in the area above the hitch. There is 48" of head room when seated on the queen bed. Our trailer's booth makes into a bed as well as the rear sofa. Same basic features as a comparable TT but shorter overall length and better ride in addition to the improved maneuverability you mentioned. I know what you mean we just spent four day on Galveston Island beach. Nice TT by the way!

I think he meant the loss of truck bed. I do like the thought of a fifth wheel, but the ones I was looking at were well out of the tundras capabilities.
