    Hey ya'll,

Been chatting with Alex from ICS_Fab quite a bit and after installing mine, I convinced them to give the folks on here a discount. When I say "I", I really mean that they were kind enough to offer it. They are currently working towards becoming a vendor on here, but I wanted to pass on the savings.

So, the discount is 10% off and it's good for 1 week. Good through 4/13.

    Discount code: 4lobound

    You can buy it here.

Pics of my truck and off their site:

So true story, I was on the shitter last night and scrolling IG -- cuz that's what we do now -- and I had come across this and saw it was on sale currently, with also a bit of a back order, but I was like, ohh, I'll be getting one -- then I came across this thread and the 10% code also works in conjunction, so I've taken it as a sign and have purchased one.

use the above mentioned promo code by the OP :thumbsup:

Ha, thanks. Most of the stuff won’t be up there unless we are actually wheeling. Still trying to figure out what HAM radio I’m gonna run, but that will probably be up there too.

Nice! It’s fate. I’m sure of it.

Also, good call. I should have included the site. Post updated.

iPad mini 4. It’s the WiFi version though. If you haven’t purchased one, get the cellular capable one. Even if you don’t put it on a cellular plan, it has built in GPS. The WiFi version does not. That’s why the inReach explorer+ is there. I tether it to the iPad and it provides the GPS signal.

Here is my setup, everything was purchased from Ram mounts.

    iPad mini 4:
Map duties. Plus movies, music, etc.

C-size square base ball mounted to the ICS bracket. Then got a corresponding 7” female double ended arm. The x-grip for the iPad is also a C size ball.

    InReach explorer+:
GPS signal duties. SOS duties. Satellite text messaging, if necessary. Etc.

B-size 1/4-20 .5” thread stem ball. 4” female ball arm. InReach specific ball mount.

    Winch controller:
B-size 1/4-20 .5” thread stem ball. 7” female ball arm. X grip with B size ball.

Not a fan of the loss of visibility with that mount. There are better solutions.

How are you using maps without the Cellular version? The InReach allows you to or do you download the Maps? Thanks

InReach makes it possible. You tether it via Bluetooth and the iPad uses the god signal off of it to guide the maps. Works well enough that there is no lag on the maps.

I just want those of you who want this product that this is an email I received from the boys at ICS FAB. They took the time to create links to each part you may want or need in order to set up your mount how the ones pictures are and also have some very clever charging solutions as well as far as mounting chargers on the dash under their mount or running hidden cables to the cigarette lighter or converting it to a charging hub. Hope it helps.

This is what you’ll need to mount on either side of our dash mount for two phone mounts.

    You’ll need 2

    Ram Mount (RAM-B-238U) 2.43 x 1.31-Inch Diamond Ball Base with 1-Inch Ball (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002KO5XVU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0TQRCb5HEPX2F

From those two bases up above you’ll use the following arms, you will also need 2

Ram Mount Long Double Socket Arm for 1-Inch Ball Bases https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WJA5ZY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5SQRCbRDGQW7S

These x grips will attach to the arms above and actually hold your phones in place. You will also need 2.

    Ram Mount Cradle Holder for Universal X-Grip Cellphone/iPhone with 1-Inch Ball - Non-Retail Packaging - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055PH0XA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_wVQRCbDK7MMER

    That gets your phones covered.

Here is the base for the iPad/ tablet. We are using this combination, it’s a shorter arm but if you have the need for a larger one you can order the second item on this list. This has the two bases and arm you’ll need.

Ram Mount RAM-B-101U 1-Inch Diameter Ball Mount with 2/2.5-Inch Round Base (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001QD8PUM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TYQRCb435KHZN

Now for the iPad there are two different cradles. I will recommend the x grip. Unless you have a large tablet.

    This is the x grip.

Ram Mount Universal X-Grip II Tablet Holder with 1-Inch Ball for Small Tablets Including iPad Mini (RAMHOLUN8BU) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006OQQ27E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.WQRCbWXYJ4KV

    This is the larger cradle.

Ram Mount Tab-Tite Universal Clamping Cradle for 10-Inch Screen Tablets with Heavy Duty Cases Including The Apple iPad 4/3/2 (RAMHOLTAB8U) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0098QTFTO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VXQRCb2CX1S12

From there you should have all your mounts and you’ll just need the hardware. You can order from us or you can visit your local hardware store. There are multiple types but the length we use is 3/4” with locking nylon nuts. The thread pitch is 8-32 for both the screws and nuts. You will need 8 screws and 8 nuts.

    Now for your charging situation...
Ginsco Dual USB Charger Socket Power Outlet 2.1A & 2.1A(4.2A) for Car Boat Marine RV Mobile with Wire Fuse DIY Kit Blue LED https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6S2SNM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_pERRCbH0QFMGT

Here is another idea.... you can drill another hole (large enough to fit a usb plug) right under our dash mount, to fit a usb cable from a dock through the dash and down onto the 12v. From there you can use this usb dock and power up to 4 devices.

Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Ultra Slim Data Hub for MacBook, Mac Pro/Mini, iMac, Surface Pro, XPS, Notebook PC, USB Flash Drives, Mobile HDD, and More (0.7 ft Extended Cable) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XMD7KPU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_U-QRCbM46ZS4E

Now, if neither of those scenarios would work for you. You can get a dual USB port/cigarette lighter plug and run two cables up your dash (apple cables) like this customer of ours.

AUKEY Car Charger, Flush Fit Dual Port 24W/4.8A Output for iPhone Xs/Max/XR/X/8, iPad Pro/Air 2/Mini, Samsung Galaxy Note9/Note8/S9/S9+ and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M6QODH2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fmRRCbVWEX6K7

Hope all that helps and sorry for the late reply. If you have further questions about anything don’t hesitate to ask. As you know the mount is currently on backorder and we’re hoping to ship next week. Hopefully that gives you time to gather everything you need.

    Thank you!

I hope this isn't too far off topic.

What navigation software are you using and what type of tablet computer are you using?

    Thanks so much.

P.S. I currently use a RAM mount attached to my windshield and it works great. RAM makes really good stuff.

Not off topic at all. This platform and mounting solution is the equivalent of audio/visual guy discussing which amp to run with their new speakers, etc..
I run a Samsung tablet (android) due to how easy it is to upload files, map imagery, imagery cuts of specific areas, and any sort of other file or app you may need. I have tried the iPad and it is also good, but the android stuff is just so much easier. I guess I will call that the Chevy/Ford debate (which none of us here have to worry about ever), or the Nitto Ridge Grappler versus Toyo AT debate. They both work.

As for nav and software. This is me, but you will find other great ones out there also

I have three mounts for sale with the ICS hardware. I’m not trying to make or get my money back. Shoot me a message if you want these for a few bucks and shipping. Amazon sent me too many.

I also discovered that this ram tough ball mount will fit also. I went with this one because it takes up way less surface area and allows the arm to articulate a bit better than the mounts above with the additional surface area and two screws.
