I've decided I'm gonna buy a new SR5 4x4 and color match the bumpers etc. and get catzkins cooled seats down the road.

Is there a general consensus to when I should buy to get the best deal??? I'm gonna sell my 07 double cab and put an additional 5-10k down, so about 15-20 down.

    Thanks!

If you are looking to get the current model year at a discount as the new ones get set to roll out I would start scouting lots and getting numbers in August. It has always been my experience that if I'm looking to pick up a current model year vehicle from dealer stock past August there's still stuff out there but not variety much left to choose from within a reasonable distance.

I always bought one at end of month

    Saved me a couple grand.

I tried the buy at year end closeout but saved just as much.

My sales guy I have done business with over 20 years said the price wont come down on the truck but your trade in could go up
    Also ask for add ons.

I do just that and every single time I get the truck a couple grand cheaper and a few add on features like cover, new wheels and side steps.

Man that's actually a pretty good deal won't get better then that..but if you plan on getting painted match bumpers and grilles then you better of getting a 4x4 trd sport already includes all the color matching..and best time to buy is near the end of the month they need to hit there monthly quota

If getting the best price is your interest, autumn, when the dealer lot is packed with the next year's models, and their inventory of the prior model year is dwindling.

When they only have a couple of last year's models left, the manager wants them gone. Trucks may not have a lot of options. But you will get the lowest price, prob in the form of rebates.

I paid $31.5k for a 2017 SR5 DC 6.5' bed. It was in the back of the lot with 2 miles on it. Doesn't have a lot of options, but it has the important ones. That's what I wanted -- I'm replacing things anyway.

:deadhorse: Ever since the first car was sold it's been common knowledge to buy the current year model when the dealer is trying to make room for the new year models that need the space. In more simple terms>>>>Late Fall. Just sayin....

If you want a specific color I would go right about now until July...if you don’t mind what color you end up with August-October are the best months to buy with all the new models coming out

This. I bought my old Dodge Dakota back in 04 and got a really good deal. But by waiting that deep into the fall, there wasn't much of a selection of the current model year Dakota in the configuration I wanted left. (Crew Cab, 4x4, V8, Sport or SLT). There were a couple on the lot I was at, and a hand full of others within a few hundred miles. I am not picky about color or packages. I normally only have a few 'must-haves' when I shop for a vehicle. So that wasn't a problem for me.

If you're picky, start kicking tires late in the summer to get an idea of what dealer stock and prices look like.
