Just installed my Pro suspension and new wheels and tires at 36k. Tires were worn unevenly and with the new suspension, I'll be getting an alignment. It has been a while since I've gotten one on any of my cars and they've gotten pretty pricey. $100-$110. Some are running promotions for $80. Is it worth paying $150 to pepboys or $180 to firestone for lifetime alignment? I have no plans to get rid of the truck and plan to do some off road, nothing knarly. Will the alignment change or loosen with some off road barring any impacts to large rocks? I'm leaning towards lifetime since it'll pay for itself the second time I use it.

Tint and wheels. Decked box in the bed. S and B Cold Air filters under the hood. Shiftpower throttle response controller.
If you are going to keep it that it's a no brainer.

The only time you'll ever need an alignment (assuming you don't drive over big pot holes, curbs and big rocks) is when you get new tires. The lifetime alignment is a gimmick in my opinion. I'd also steer clear of pep boys and Firestone auto care, if I were you.

I'm hesitant myself about Pepboys since I haven't been there since 07 with my Camaro when they cross threaded 4 of my lug nuts putting them on with an impact (not started by hand) then try to charge me. Needless to say they ended up replacing them for free since I called them out as I was watching them do this.

I'd go lifetime. One bad hit to a curb and you're out of alignment again. Worth it to be able to just roll in have them throw it on the rack for free!

    That's what I was thinking.

I'll just have to be on them to make sure they don't scratch the pro wheels in the process. Maybe I'll take painter's tape with me

A little of this and a little of that.
I have found a great Firestone I use here in Vegas that I trust w/ alignment stuff only. I have the lifetime plan from them. It's already paid for itself one and a half times. I'm do again. I offroad though so there's that.

Lifetime if you are keeping the Tundra for more than 5 years.

I've done lifetime Firestone alignments for almost every vehicle I've owned. Quality is very dependant on the shop you go to. Of the 3 locations near me, I only trust my truck with one. The other added benefit to me is I get a free steering and suspension evaluation every time it's performed. They allow me to do any repairs myself that prevent them from performing and alignment and bring it back for post install adjustments. If your local shop has good management and knowledgeable technicians, I'd go that route.

I believe it pays for itself after around three alignments even if you don't factor in reduced tire wear

Firestone lifetime alignment is definitely worth it. I used it a bunch when constantly upgrading my Tacoma. Found out that they have a limit of 3 alignments per calendar year though...

Yeah, could be something that they don’t enforce or pay much attention to but when I went in the manager was the one that helped me and checked my history. They still ended up taking it in to check alignment that time. Still worth the cost even for 3 a year.

I did the firestone lifetime alignments. Only had it aligned once since I installed the Rough country lift. May take it back in to see if some positive camber can be adjusted. If it can’t I’m probably gonna go to a better suspension setup and take it back in for alignment.

IMO if you’re keeping the truck and plan on doing suspension and tire upgrades and changes, then it’s worth it.

I'd pay a reasonable amount for lifetime alignment. I've aligned my truck at least 4-5 times since I've had it and since I only go to the local dealer ($160 a pop) it is getting expensive.

Well , even once a year alignment , life time pays for it.

I have lifetime alignment from Firestone , been there already 3 times. Everytime my son borrows the truck , I have to visit for allignment

As others have said, it all depends on the techs at your local location. If you can find a good tech(s) at a firestone near you, it's a no brainer. IF a tech does a good job, remember their name and ask for them in the future. I've had the the firestone lifetime alignment on my jeep for about 8 years now. I eventually stopped going because my location lost good technicians and the alignments were crap. The service manager even told me that techs only get paid .5 hrs (flat rate) for a lifetime alignment so they 'tend to feel rushed'. So if a tech makes $25/hr flat rate, he's only getting paid $12.50 to align your truck. I had 4 or 5 different suspension set ups on my jeep over the years so I feel like I got my money's worth. I now happily pay $100 to have my jeep aligned by a quality tech even though my lifetime alignment is still valid.

Unless you have a particularly good tech at the lifetime alignment place, use a shop that regularly works on modified trucks, ideally modified Toyotas
