Did a dry test run on the tensioner. Requires 14mm wrench left hand 1/16th push turn to release tension so the belt can release.

Any reccos on belt brands? Replacing the V-belt. I’ve seen that Gates has both a regular, and heavy duty type, on Big Gurrl for about $22-28.

There is no reason to spend $70 on a belt. I went with the Gates K060908.

Ya. Going with this one from Autozoned. Just spoke with them and will pick it up later. Its made from EPDM per spec. I think the Gates one is made with a different ingredient.

yep bank account is running low from it..
If you do a shifter kit upgrade you might want to drop the torque converter and get it reworked for faster lock up.

    Thank you.

Yeah. Not sure if I’m going that route after a good discussion with TransMan today. He sounded like maybe not a good idea to do valve body kit but I’ll talk some more with him once the time gets closer in a few months. Probs will just have him do pan drop and new screen/gasket. He has a super duper computer that he’ll hook up for a deep diagnosis of the unit.

New Screen, 7qts fluid, gasket, and diagnostics for $200. Pretty good I think. Materials are about $60 per my math so the labor is $140. The computer diagnostic is what I’ll pay the premium for.

Or, I do it myself. Not an emergency by any means as the unit is working great. Just curious about the pan contents and getting a new filter screen for sure.

Gotter dun. Took about 30 minutes. Had to clean off some rubber chunks melted onto the tensioner pulley wheel surface. Used a razor and some Goof Off and brake cleaner. Cleaned all the pulley grooves on the others pretty good using a tooth brush and cleaner to remove the old rubber residue. Very easy job overall.

Did the job without removing anything out of the way except the a/c line bracket. That 14mm swivel head wrench was the key tool to used on the tensioner. Tools used pictured.

Just picked my truck up from a local fabricator who finished making me a rear tube bumper. Ive been wanting it for the extra clearance in back and I also think they look awesome. Now im thinking of getting something for the front as well.

Oh, and i cant wait to paint the screws on the back plastic piece black. Any recommendations on what i should use? Like a paint pen of some sort?

Oh also, now that my exhaust is more exposed and kinda the lowest point in the rear, is there a way i could bend it upwards so that its more horizontal? My fab guy suggested just cutting it after the muffler and pointing it down but dont really feel like having all the exhaust under my bed.

Looks good. I would take the screws out and poke them thru a card board box and spray paint the heads. Anything else will look like an after thought.

Also don't forget to wire up a license plate light. Cops around here love that stuff to initiate a traffic stop at 2am.

As for the exhaust, I would have a muffler shop redo the last few feet. You might be able to take the whole thing out and put it in a bender to bend it up. But I think it will still look funky. :anonymous:

Got new tires - my first off road tires since buying the truck and wearing out the street tires that came with it - and used them to explore some cool territory surprisingly close to Phoenix. Oh and a friend loaned me his drone for a while. 1f642_4a70d8e8fbdd74b3dd17997a66b521fddef06acf.png

Tire decision: BFG All Terrain T/A KO2 235/85R16 based mainly off a friend who has a first gen, goes offroading in the same areas I do, and loved this setup.

(Sorry for the cheesy music - didn't want to deal with any copyright infringement, so I'm just using something built in to iMovie.)

[IMG] Dash is in, window regulators in, my freebie door panels are in (impossible to find my color with power apparently...). Dash is solid, no noise, way quieter. Messed up the cable for the mode selection. I’ll just fix it when I have the radio out friday or Saturday to run my wheel control connector.

Oh does anyone know if the mirror heater switch has a bulb to light it up? I’m willing to bet it does. Thinking about doing white for all my interior lights.

Cut the exhaust like he said or run it thru the bed or bedside. Also your spare and your hitch are going to limit the effectiveness of the high clearance rear

Made an appointment to have a rust hole and any soft spots in the frame repaired and undercoating applied.

Yea definitely hear ya on the license plate lights. Im gonna wire them up this weekend! Dont need to give those cops any reason to pull me over. I also like your idea about painting the screws, Ill have to try that too. Ill probably go to a muffler shop soon as well and see what they can do. I also looked at the first gen tundra on the coastal offroad website and noticed in one of the pictures of their bumper on a tundra, they had just cut the exhaust as well.

Meant to mention that, but something was wrong with my first post (video wouldn't show up) and I re-typed it and forgot.

I went with BFG All Terrain T/A KO2 235/85R16, based mainly off a friend who has a first gen, goes offroading in the same areas I do, and loved this setup.

I had previously lifted it a little bit - just about 1.5in and was able to fit these in. Now, with these slightly taller tires (I gained about 1.1in diameter over my old ones) I'm probably done getting more ground clearance. Not sure how I feel about the spacing...may some day get wheels with more offset to put the tires further out, but I can't afford much that isn't strictly necessary right now.

@oscardog86 you may be able to have a shop cut, rotate, reattach the pipe before that outward bend to get the angle more flat. From there if you paint the tailpipe black it won't stick out so much visually.

It shouldn't really hurt and departure angles since it appears to be well within the angle from tire to bumper, does upset the visual though.

So the chrome Toyota emblem on my grille that I wasn't sure whether or not to leave chrome? Yeah, it fell off today on my first drive after painting the grille. So that's fun. Yay...another piece I need to find.

I accidentally broke one of the little tabs when I painted my grille.

My friend attempted to glue it back on but it fell off about a month later.
Still havnt found one... just kinda lazy

Gearing up to pull the plastic bed liner (most everyone hates but I like) for a visual inspection. Side boxes need to be pulled off which were solidly attached by me years ago. I’ll be disassembling the tail gate cover and greasing up the interior cavity. All surfaces to be spot rust primed and fully Rustoleum bed coated. Liner to be re-installed and spray bed-lined as well. Might remove the rear bumper and bed-line it, as well. It will be a solid day of work or I’ll bust it into two longer 1/2 days depending on things.

That would be awesome. I'll gladly pay the shipping, since it would probable be cheaper than the $40 from Amazon.

Anyone know what grille this is? Ive seen the same one on some AC's but I dont think Ive ever seen it on a DC. Also this picture is taken from a CL ad in Waco, TX if anyone is looking for what appears to be a clean, well maintained, high mileage truck.
