I’m looking for a little more bass but nothing crazy. Didn’t want to add amps and boxes etc...
    Kicker CompRt 8” 1ohm

Anybody know if this Kicker sub will swap into the CM factory box ?

There was a group buy on this, so there should be some opinions on here. Much better option

I had that sub in the stock JBL subwoofer box for a few months. At the time I had no other audio upgrades, stock head unit and amp. It was slightly better than stock, slightly. I think it would have been better if it was in a larger, wood box. The small plastic box really sucks. I think I paid around $75 for it and I would say it was not worth it. I ended up selling it and getting a 10" JBL sub in a custom box from tech12volts, again stock head unit and amp, and that sounded much much better than stock and the kicker.
So bottom line is, if you buy this sub, make a buy a decent box for it with the proper air space volume and it should add some thump. But it won't suddenly become a stunning sound system, for that you'll need a real amp and sub/box and ideally an aftermarket head unit.

PS sorry for the long winded reply. There are 1 or 2 threads about this sub already so if you search the audio section here, you will find them and get some good

There's a thread on here somewhere about this topic. I tried using the Kicker sub in a box and just wired it up to the factory sub connection. It was very slightly better than stock. Not enough of a difference to make it work the money.
What absolutely is worth the money and significantly better than stock is what Danimal86 posted: https://www.shop.tech12volts.com/product.sc?productId=540&categoryId=124
I think the sale/group buy is still going on so you can get it for $200. That was the easiest, cheapest, and most notable improvement to the stock JBL system that I did. Made me much happier. (I eventually upgraded the speakers as well, and then later got a new Kenwood head unit too)

I forget the truck has a sub all the time until I fold up the seat. That thing is pathetic

Great info. Gonna hold off on the kicker and look into this setup.

Thanks for the feedback. My days of big bass subs and custom setups are behind me. $200 for nice notable improvement sounds good.

Same here. Had no idea until I happen to come across a post on it. I reached back there and it’s a plastic box too Haha

I put an 8" Rockford Fosgate in my factory box. Added an amp. The factory plastic box does not enhance the sound very well. The sub was "crunching" if that is the correct terminology?? It would not handle any more bass than what I got out of the factory JBL "premium"!! (sucked from the start). I ended up adding a box with a 10" RF and can shake the mirrors now. If you do it, spend a couple of bucks and get a wooden box for the speaker you have. jmo
