I’m looking to improve the look of my ‘13 Tundra. The PO had fender flares, and from some of the other upgrades (rear bumper upgrade, tonneau cover, different running boards, even has the under seat storage under the back seats), I’m surprised he didn’t have newer wheels. Especially since they don’t sit flush with the flares. New wheels are out for now. In a year or two I’ll probably get some matte black wheels with an offset, but in the meantime I’m thinking about wheel spacers. I’ve never used them. Does anyone here run them? Are they safe? Do they noticeably effect the handling? Do you guys recommend a certain brand? I think 1.5” (38mm) will be about right to bring them pretty close to even with the flares. What do you guys think? I’ll try to get a better pic tonight, but this one should give you an idea of what I’m working with.

Spacers are safe if installed correctly, they needed to be torqued correctly. You also want "Hub Centric" meaning they will center on the wheel. Spidertrax and Bora mentioned on here with good results. I wouldn't go more than 1.5'. You probably will not notice any handling or driving differences. It would look better IMHO.

I second what @Trooper2 said. The original owner probably kept the aftermarket wheels or sold them prior to selling you the truck.

@Trooper2 said it best. Also think of them as part of your maint schedule, when you get and oil change, check your spacers and lug nuts. Also, make sure the area where the spacers mount is free and clear of dust and crap that will keep them from sitting flat.

I run 2" Ebay ones for 2 years now, no issues. Over 2 years on my previous wrangler 2" no issues either.

1.25" Spidertrax spacers, American made high quality. As long as your wheels have a good balance you should be fine.
I may actually be selling these as I just got new wheels.

    Thanks,
I searched for a long time to find a simple wheel that seemed right. Came down to these and Enkei ST6, these just seemed more at home on a 4wd.
They came with center caps but I kinda like them without. Probably get longer black lug nuts also.

You referring to the strut spacer/leveling kit? I have used them before.

I was running 1.25" spidertrax with TRD off road wheels. I have ran spidertrax without issues for my last 4 toyotas. I just pulled them off because I got new wheels. Let me know if you are interested..

I run spacers on my rear axle because my front is 67” wide and my rear is stock 61” wide. They’ve been on for 5 years and lots of abuse. No issues.

Referring to the wheel spacers. Just wondering, since they seem to show up as top 3 best brand wheel spacers when doing a search online.

If going with wheel spacers, I wouldn't go with anything other than SpiderTrax or Bora's. I didn't know that Supreme started making them....I had their strut spacers at one time.

Is there a minimum size spacer that you guys wouldn't go below? I usually see 1.25" or 1.50", but my front overhang is about .75" less than the rear so was thinking of getting that size.

Someone else may be more familiar, but I am pretty sure if you go less than 1.25” you run the risk of having to “shave” down the lugs. As I believe the lugs stick out just over 1”.

    Good luck

Yeah, that’s the reason why the minimum you’ll see for hub centric 6x5.5 is 1.25”.

I ran 1.5" wheel spacers from wheeladapter. Com for over 2 years. It wasn't cheap but it's trusted on multiple car and truck forums.

You will likely have issues running under 1.25”. But the only way to be sure is to just pop a wheel off and measure the stud. If it is shorter than the intended spacer, your wheel will not mount properly and will require the lug to be ground down to be flush with the top of the spacer or less.

I have heard that the TRD Offroad wheels have holes on the back of the mounting flange. And that a small portion of the the stud fits inside. I wish someone could post up pics.

For the sake of your life and your wheel coming off of your truck. Do not buy your spacer off of eBay, get a trusted brand like Bora or spydertrax. Those that are saying I've ran an eBay one for years with no problem are lucky.

Agreed, I have 1.25” Spidertrax waiting to go on currently myself!

Memebers sell these lightly used in the classifieds section of the site. Otherwise can be kind of pricey, but worth getting a name brand for something that connects your wheels to the car.
