What are my options for a new skid plate that has the oil filter change door?

    2007 2WD

    Thank you.

    RCI and TRD are two.

Many have just cut out a square hole in the stock one. Some have saved the cutout, hinged and buckled for a door.

RCI is out, they don't make a front SP for 2WD.

That seems strange. You have the stock metal one correct? If so, I don’t see why the RCI wouldn’t bolt up in the same location.

Kind of what I was thinking; the stock SP is common for 2WD and 4WD.

Maybe they do and just do not know it, LOL.

If really interested, confirm toyota part numbers, 2wd vs 4wd. If same rci should work for you.

I would call RCI and ask for Josh. Their skid should fit.

Thanks! Aftermarket vendor saying their Skid Plate only fit 4WD. Doesn't make sense....

@RCIoffroad might sell a few more if they could give definitive answers as to why it doesn’t fit. I tried looking it up and I have seen the question asked a couple of times but no answer. I did see somewhere that it said it takes modifications. The skid plate mounts to the crossmember with a couple of carriage bolts and large washers. Then it has the standard mounting points that the oem skid plate uses. As well as bolts to mount the front bumper plastic to it. I can only think the only difference would be possibly the crossmember.

It is heavier and may require more support. Maybe the 4wd crossmember is different than 2wd.

That or maybe it has different holes for mounting or is it a slightly different location because of the transfer case. I’m just guessing here LOL

Front two cross members are the same part number.

My guess is that RCI hasn't had a 2WD tunny in for front skid fitment yet even though it may be identical. RCI started out fabbing skids and sliders for the Colorado 4X4 FJ and 4R community and did quite well. RCI only recently in the last couple years moved to making armor for the Tundra. Eventually I'm sure a slider will be made for the DC. Who knows, might be in work already. The powers that be there do realize that many of us are rigging up our full size trucks for hitting some trails. Once again I recommend calling RCI directly.
