Sorry I should have been more clear on my previous response. What I meant is that some of the Texhstream programs don’t work or are a little difficult to get the to work.

Well the one I ordered of Amazon that is referenced in this thread says newest up to 2018 I have a 2019 but I doubt there is any on Amazon that say 2019. I was just wondering if the cable that is referenced in this thread comes with tech stream?

Usually the cable and the program are sold together but if it doesn’t come with the program send me a message and I might be able to help you out.

Do you mind sharing where you got those flip keys from? I'm in the same boat as the original poster. Bought a 2014 1794 last Saturday and it only had 1 set of keys. Trying to figure out the best way to get some new keys made without getting raked over the coals by the dealership.

that post says that they got it from the dealer I think, but if you want an aftermarket key that worked I'll post a link to the one that I used.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R4PJ68B/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A1BRSJCIW5FQPJ&psc=1

You have to get it programed and cut though and that post says that they got it cut and programed at the dealer for $130 and I don't know if they meant that it included the key.

Well thought I’d follow up with my results... mixed at best.

Purchased the he flip / switchblade key from eBay.

Purchased the techstream cord from Amazon.

I was able to install the software on a windows 10 laptop and connect to the truck.

My problem is the software only supports up to 2018. Near as I can tell there is a newer version of techsteam but not at a reasonable price... Obviously the one that you get off Amazon is “a hacked” version but it works.
I’m pretty sure I can make changes but it will only see my truck if I manually put it in as a 2018.

My Fob has a key code for I believe to be for the immobilizer that has to be entered when adding a key I think.

Anyways if you have 2019 and up make sure the software is the latest version.

I’ll report back on my next try..

I think that there is someone else that ran into this and they stated that it would be fine to program the key with it thinking it’s a 2018 since the key it transferred to the key directly without you having to punch anything in. That’s just what I got from the post.

I tried, but there is no way for me to know if it's just the new fob that is incompatible or the software. Since my keys came withe stamped code plate for the immobilizer I assume that info has to be put in as well. Getting the fob programmed to lock and unlock is one thing, but the security for the immobilizer would be another. My key is cut and goes in the ignition and works but the security light flashes..

I think your key is different generation of key not a G key. Did you want to post a picture of both sides of the key?

Dah I re-read the listing and just looked at my OEM key its an H not a G. The flip fob I have is a G.... I guess I have a extra lock out key :(

I kinda figured that’s what the issue was. If you open open the flip key you should see the little chip in there. If you really want to there’s a way to get a cheaper H key and get the chip out of it, but if you don’t want to do that just buy a newer H flip key.

Ok, had I done my home work and read the posting I probably would not of gotten the wrong one the first time. You need to take your oem key apart and get the FCC number that’s the best way to confirm. The seller was very help full of course, so I could by another lol. Anyways I kind of like the looks of this one, I wonder if I can program the trunk button for something like window roll down..

Anyways if you have a 2019 this one is supposed to work.

I have had this key on a couple different Toyotas. Only reason I havent ordered one for my current Tundra is they seem to have a delay. Like when you double press for unlock all doors or triple press for remote start you have to press and pause for a second then press again. I dont think the factory remote start will work with this.

Keep in mind that this key will only work for H type key not the G key since the 2014 is a g key and requires the G key with the corresponding transponder.

Question, if I already have the Carista OBD2 Bluetooth dongle, could I use the Techstream software and that dongle to do the Techstream work programming a key, etc.? Then all I have to do is find someone nearby with the software to 'try' right?

Unfortunately TechStream does not work with wireless OBD connections, it requires a special cable. This is the one I bought and used it to program new keys successfully https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X8GQKTJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. You do need a laptop, an old xp 32bit works the best but I used a Vista 64bit, just requires a little extra work to get the driver to work with 64 bit systems. When using techstream you need to program the remote and chip separately. These copies of TechStream and drivers are all unofficial and usually report as Trojans by antivirus systems but they do work and haven't had an issue but obviously best to use an old laptop you're not worried about. I programmed the keys and then brought them to Home Depot to get them cut. First time I only programmed the remote and not the chip and found out what happened when the chip isn't programmed, the engine will just crank and not start. These are the blanks I used for 2019 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07982NRKQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share.

Did you get your setup working? I’m
Shopping around for the same keyfob as well, but I keep finding the G key vs the H key which I have.

No I gave up, the eBay seller was willing to work with me but I don’t think the chipset they were selling was compatible with the 2019. And moved on to other projects.

if you get it working let’s us know :)

Idk if you guys know this but the letter designation for the key is just the chip actually located inside the key fob, you could always just buy the correct chip key and take the chip out and put it in the fob you want to program it with. I have not done it but read about it in other posts while I was looking to program my keys with TechStream.

The funny thing is back when I started this the lock Smith had warned me it wasn’t going to work.... said let him know if it works lol

I’m a bit foggy on this but as I remember the security clone wasn’t working in tech stream and I couldn’t figure out it it was the software version or the wrong chip.
