Nice. I had 2 8's in my 01 and it had just enough oomph to enjoy inside the truck without attracting the officers attention. Not sure if I will ever get a chance to add some to my present truck

It's just an MDF top

 

I've been debating on getting this MDF top or the box. How do you like the MDF top? Does it sound pretty decent?

 

I've got this... 15 years old and still gets the job done.

Yes, I cut the plastic cover off the bottom.

 

I just had a box made with a 10" Punch in it.
It served it's purpose..

Is the top with the subs mounted loose or bolted down in some way? Wanting to do this with my double cab and planning on making my top myself. Wasn’t sure how to secure it though. Was thinking maybe reuse the way the OEM fits?

anyone successfully done under seat subs without cutting the underside of the seat? Thinking about a recessed top to give an extra inch of space to avoid any cutting.

 

Its worth a shot to see if you can make it work, you'll have to do some test fitting. How come you dont want to just cut the plastic panel? It looks completely stock with the seat down. The subs may rattle the flimsy plastic being so close to it. The other problem is that the storage space is already very shallow and has the angled portion making it worse. Recessing an inch means dropping the subs an inch which might not be possible.

For your other question, you definitely need to secure the top to the compartment and seal it as much as possible for the best sound. I used 1.5" self tapping screws and strips of foam window sealer on the lip of the compartment. Just be careful where you put the screws as there are lines (cant remember what they were) that you could possibly drill into under the truck.

 

If you can find a sub to fit under the seat without cutting out the plastic seat bottom the rattling will be unbearable. Even my setup; which provides very little bass rattled like crazy. I used a couple of pieces of firm foam that came with my bed cover to wedge the plastic tight so it wouldn't rattle and it worked fine. That said - with more bass that may not be an option...

 

Thanks for the response! Yea i may test with making the baffle to see how much room i would have to mount a sub before buying anything. As for cutting the seats, Im just not a huge fan of cutting up parts of my truck that much. I will probably get there one day, but Im a weird hybrid of DIYer and Purest.

 

Oh wow, I wasnt thinking about the additional rattle....my money may be better invested in some new wheels and tires at the moment until i can figure out a better solution that i like. Thanks for the feedback!
