I’d like a little rumble, but I do a lot of highway driving and some towing, and don’t want to go deaf.
How does the DD 10” compare to the TRD exhaust?

I have the 10 inch and a ton of guys around me have the trd exhaust.

I have zero drone or resonance at any speed or rpm. I think mine is also louder on the outside than the trd

Both are great, @dirtydeeds does have some of that great customer service thing going on.

I have the trd system and am very pleased. Benn almost a year and its starting to burn in and sounding a little deeper.

I have the Pro exhaust. I love it.

Pros: Sound is perfect IMO purrs, not too loud. Looks awesome.
Cons: Do get some resonate in the cab. Not all the time, for me it is at low throttle when going up a hill.

How does the 10" compare to the pro?

More rumble with less drone :)

What he said. I have that system and zero drone with the resonator. It’s loud when you want it and not when you don’t. I don’t notice it going down the highway at any speed. When you hit it, it becomes a whole different animal.

I might go with the dirty deeds. I just found out they offer 40% discount for vetrans or active duty personnel.

Pro here, with Pro exhaust. Its nice, would never get tired of it or think it was too loud. Toyota really got the perfect balance for a daily driver with it. That being said, I love the V8, so i'll be going Dirty Deeds with no mufflers soon enough. :D

Is it not possible to do the dirty deeds 10” with dual TRD pipes?

That's the TRD replacement from DD. It a dual muffler with X pipe. I can't say if a single 10" will work well with the dual outs.
I have this replacement system and it's fantastic.

I had the TRD exhaust and it took me 8 months to admit to myself that I hated it. Since installing the BAM 8”, I love my truck again.

For me it wasn’t the sound, both sound nice, it was the massive loss of torque that the TRD system caused. I ordered it the day I bought my truck and had it installed a month later, and I felt regret the minute I drove away from the dealer after having it installed.

Life is all good with the better (and much less expensive) BAMuffler.

thanks for the info! As far as sound (loud?) and drone how is life with the replacement system? Any additional feedback is much appreciated!

So to compare the TRD dual and the DD replacement I can say this.

I think the TRD is an awesome factory system. It is quiet for the most part but has a nice continuous rip when you open it up and it keeps pulling. The main gains for power are in this upper rpm range. (3000-5500). Drawbacks are the helicopter side-to-side noise and no real low rpm gain.

The DD replacement makes very small improvements in power over the TRD system overall, but it makes the power at a lower rpm range. Which made a huge difference for my increased tire size, and the x-pipe eliminated the helicopter noise. I had the resonators installed from DD so I have no drone either.

The only drawback seems to be a plateu of the power above 3500 rpms. So when I'm pulling a heavy pedal, I get off the line quick, but it doesn't keep pulling more and more like the TRD does.
I did a dual 5"X16" DD system which is loud enough for me without causing trouble or waking my neighbors. It opens up nicely when getting on it, but again the snarl quiets down above 3500 rpms. And zero drone, is definitely nice.

All in all, they are pretty equal but my edge goes to the DD, for the X-pipe scavenging, resonators with zero drone, and more usable low-end power band, and it is louder too which I like. But just a small edge it is.

The 8” is awesome. I’ve had it for over a year. Deep sound when on the throttle with zero drone in all conditions. Half the price of TRD as well. The BAM sounds much better than the TRD. The TRD price is what initially kept me away. Now that I’ve experienced both, I’m very happy I chose Dirty Deeds.

I have the Dirty deeds 8” and it is not loud at all. It’s the perfect balance. Loud enough to let you know it’s there. Nice deep growl, zero drone with the resonator. It’s an exhaust you can live with for years and years! Couldn’t be happier! Glad I didn’t go with the 10” or pro exhaust.

Ps. it comes to LIFE when you want it to! And just as quiet as stock when you want it to be.

Don’t think you can go wrong either way BUT I love my DD 10” s/s exhaust. Very smooth tone compared to the TRD. I tow a 6000lbs boat and no drone even while towing. I’m very happy with it.

I have the Dirty Deeds 8 inch system. I have had it for 2 years and its great. Sounds is really good but not overwhelming in cabin. Little drone that could be zero drone if I install the Helmholtz resonator supplied with it. Cant go wrong with Dirt Deeds!

What's the main differences between the 8" and 10" besides the obvious 2" bigger pipe?

I have the TRD exhaust. If I’m lugging along at around 45 to 50 or so mph in high gear, the truck will downshift to lightly accelerate up the incline. The stock system or dual with crossover will pull itself in high gear without the downshift. I’ve driven all 3 configurations.

Higher speeds won’t downshift going up inclines, but you can tell the true duals don’t pull as well until you get up to about 65 mph.

No gear hunting with TRD in my experience.

I don’t tow or live in mountainous area so the torque loss doesn’t bother me. I like the volume and tone of the TRD exhaust, and acceleration feels strong and linear.

The annoying helicopter sounds goes away with time. It still rumbles at low rpms, but I don’t find it annoying like I did when new.

You should consult Keith @dirtydeeds but I recall the shorter = louder sound. When I bought there was only 6 inch and 8 inch with 8 being the taker of the two. Keith is great and will give recommendations based on exactly what you’re looking for. Good luck.

So 6" is the loudest DD system and 10" is the quietest with 8" in between? Is there much difference in power among the three? I just have the stock exhaust and would like a little more rumble but don't want to lose any power as mentioned above with Trd which is surprising.

I have the TRD exhaust from the factory and am perfectly happy although I've not driven other configurations. Does anyone have a comparison of the full TRD exhaust and the TRD exhaust with DD dumps? I'm considering this configuration to help with clearance for future suspension and larger spare mods. I don't want to give up performance, make it sound weird, or create legal issues in CA. Any thoughts or feedback?

Keith has dyno’d all of them and from what I remember they are the same. I have the 10” stainless and it is nice with the S/C. I hate the noisy cat back exhaust fitted pickups running around town..just noise with no smash. Mine is quiet until I get in the throttle. Perfect balance.

Over a year now with the BAM 8 without the resonator. Def can hear the deep rumble at morning startup. Under 2500 rpm, no drone when on the gas, but over that i get a in cabin drone. Outside of the truck its a nice deep V8 rumble that should have come OEM. I got a good deal on Black Friday and free shipping last year.
