The 18-inch BBS® forged-aluminum five-spoke aluminum wheels are said to reduce un-sprung weight by 3.35 lbs. per wheel... that is great, but what do the wheels weigh?

    3.35 lbs. less than what?

If these new TRD / BBS wheels weigh less than 30 lbs. with center cap, they could be worth the upgrade.

Thought I saw a photo posted of one on a scale, and it was between 27-28 lbs.

I read that they're in the neighborhood of 27lbs. I have a set, take-offs with the factory Michelins. My other wheelsets are 20s with factory size tires. I know it's not a fair comparison, but the 20s are soooo freaking heavy.

What did you pay for the take-offs?

If they are 27 lbs +/-, that's a real upgrade.

$1500 Wheels, center caps and tires (very nearly new), no lugs or sensors. The tires were off the bead from when the seller had the sensors removed, so I had to dole out a little to have them refit and balanced.

Edit: And the seller included a TRD Pro skid plate with most of the hardware. I figured out how to fit it without too much hassle. That sucker is heavy too, compared to stock.

I would think so, but I simply used the ones that were already on my truck.

From experience I can attest to the fact that you will notice this weight difference while driving. The front end feels much lighter.

    Indeed.

I went from 39 lb. steel wheels to 32 lb. alloys and noticed a big difference... 27 lbs. would be awesome.

I honestly couldn’t believe in the positive difference going from the TRD wheel to the PRO.

Having a wheel & tire combo that weighs less than 70 lbs. would be nice.

I went from 20” platinum to 18” pro bbs, made a huge difference. Much more faster off the line. Feels much lighter.

I posted this in the "consensus" thread but I thought I would post it here as well, since this was where I saw the question first.

Scale says 31.1# for the stock wheel.

Why is that? the article says it is their THIRD filing and they are looking for an owner to continue the company

"The bankruptcy filing does not mean BBS will cease to exist, however. Much like Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US, the company is hoping to buy some time as it restructures its business. "

With COVID, I imagine the outlook isn't great considering it's their third filing in fifteen years especially since they're, "struggling with a supply problem."

I replaced my 32 lb. 18" SR5 alloys with a set of 27 lb. 18" BBS-FORGED alloys about a month ago and my RCSB is noticeably lighter on it's feet.

27 is quite heavy for a forged 18x8... the truck TE37s in 18x9 are 19.4 lbs and the Titan 7 forged 17x8.5 wheels are 19.5

They aren't OEM, but what do those wheels sell for?
