Had 3” lift put on today and then went and had tires/wheels installed 295/65/18. The front drivers side hit the front of the wheel well and tore up the plastic a little. I fussed at Discount tires and they are ordering me 285/65/18.

    Tires: Duratracs
    Rims: 18 x 9 with +18 offset

So didn’t realize they were hitting till I drove home and was backing in the driveway and heard some loud running up front when I turned the wheel sharply to back into garage.

Still have to get my 2” lift on rear, I was feeling ill at the service center and told them to do the front today and the rear on Monday.

Disappointing to get a 3” lift and 295/65 won’t fit, part of me says to push the inner front fender back and secure and go with the 295’s

I bought a cheap heat gun and plastic mallet at harbor freight and lightly tapped my front fender plastic in. Worked like a charm! And alot less hassle than getting different tires

Less the tire size and more the offset of your wheel. Buy some bumper shims and be done with it.

That’s a thought because I have a heat gun in the shop

I ran the Duratrac 295x65x18s on a 2" lift and had no issues. My wheels are a +25 offset but +18 is not that different. I had some rubbing at first and only had to remove the front mudflap and push the liner forward about an inch. Did you get an alignment after the lift was installed?

I had to do it when I got my 275/70s with 18 offset. Only took a couple minutes

I appreciate the advice but what are bumper shims. I don’t want the wheel stick out farther if you mean shims for that. I prefer wheels more flush with the truck so I initially wanted +35 rims but the counter guy at Discount said no, factory is +60 so you want +18 that will bring wheel out 1.75”.

They move your front bumper forward a bit to make room for the wheel well rubbing issue. You can also remove the front splash guards if you haven't already to get a little more clearance. Sometimes if you are just slightly rubbing, this is all you need. Here's a link for the bumper shims. https://www.tundras.com/threads/sass-will-it-fit-in-the-garage-build.31002/page-3#post-797902

‘I told the shop that did the lift on the front I would come back Monday with the new tires and rims so they could :
Finish the job meaning put the 2” lift on the back and then do the alignment with the new tires and rims

The difference between +25 and +18 is just over 1/4" so I think that you can get the 295s to fit. Remove the little front mud flap (if DT didn't already remove this) and then unbolt the front liner from the bottom of the bumper. You can push the liner forward an inch, drill a new hole in the plastic and then reattach the liner to the bottom of the bumper.

This is how I did mine - you can see that the screw on the right is not in the stock hole.

Lol, thanks. Take a look around when you get some time. There are a number of even crazier builds than mine. BTW, I'm no spring chicken either. Had my black balloon birthday a few years back.

I loved my Duratracs. It'll be worth the effort to make these work. Shims will work but I think you can make these tires work with less effort. (I think that to install the bumper shims you need to take your bumper off. This is time consuming if you take the whole bumper apart or a real pita if you take the bumper off in 1 piece).

285x65s are 1/2" shorter and ~1/2" narrower and IMO will look a lot smaller than the 295x65s.

Do the bumper shims and remove the splash guards from the bumper and you'll be fine. All I have for a lift is a level and doing that got 295/70R18s in mine, granted a little less offset at around +40.

That's great that it all worked out. Lift/tires/wheel rub can all be a little overwhelming. These forums are a great help. Thinking back to when I had a lifted Tundra five years ago(bought it pre-owned lift already done) to today(bought her new and picked out and had my own lift installed), through this forum and some research, my personal knowledge has grown by leaps and bounds. You would have regretted going with the smaller sized tire after seeing how rad your trucks looks with the 295s. Enjoy!
