Haven’t seen any info on a 2021 pro...with the new trail series I’m guessing the pros are gone.

    any thoughts?

The rumor mill has it that the next generation of Tundra's will NOT include a V8 Engine option. Say goodbye to the 5.7? The rumor is that the next Tundra will have a 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 pushing out 450 HP and 500 FT LBS, getting 30 MPG. That's a bold claim. But, Ford did the exact same thing with the Raptor. The rumor also states that there will be a Hybrid Tundra. Lots of rumors out there, and seeing is how it's all coming from the internet; it has to be true, RIGHT?

Here is a rendering of the 2021 Tundra. Thoughts? For me it looks too much like a big Rav4 with a truck bed. Keep in mind, this is just a rendering of what the truck MIGHT look like. However, no mention of a TRD Pro as of yet.

I know 2022 is suppose to be new model with 2021 staying the same, just haven’t seen a pro mentioned for 2021....just the trail trucks.

Guess we will just have to take a seat, and see what happens. Either way, I won't be letting go of my 19 PRO, unless they come out with a good looking PRO that gets 25-30 MPG. Wouldn't that be nice?

I have 19 tundra pro in voodoo. Also a 2020 taco and 4 runner in army green. Dealer can get me a 2020 tundra but I don’t want 3 green trucks but I want the upgrades (apple car play. Push button start etc). Was hoping for a 2021 w a new color option.

. Man, I got myself the Alpine Halo9 and took care of that "Carplay bug" for me in my 2018 Platinum. It not only does Carplay, but made an incredible difference to the sounds system, now it's actually on par with other flagship trucks. It added a lot of cool features - Like Load, Throttle Plate Position, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, max speed in quarter mile, intake and exhaust temps, and a lot more. And, it looks like it was made to go in the vehicle. A lot cheaper than trading in the Vehicle you love.

My guestimation is that you will still see the 5.7 continue in the base duocab (and maybe some others) for regular heavier towing. The upper models - Limited, Platinum, 1794, and Pro are likely to get the TT6 cylinder. Just seems to make sense from a marketing standpoint. But wholly crap, I hope it doesn't look like that rendering....Or maybe I do; then the value of the 2nd gens and 3rd gens will go up, because no one wants to be seen in that thing.

Tundra's have always been known as a BEAST. That rendering looks more like a FAIRY. Where the bed is stamped with TRD PRO, or TRD Off Road decals, it will probably come with this instead.

I bet they let the 5.7 go for a couple of years, then bring back the 5.7 in the TRD Pro's only.

Everyone else offers a V8 and I just don't see the "base" engine starting at 450hp and 500lb-ft. I think a good start would be the 4.6L used in the old LS460 which already had the D4-S and higher compression ratios and some other goodies replace the 5.7L as the base engine but in the 380-400hp and 400lb-ft range. But who knows....

If they do continue the 5.7L they need to update it too with D4-S and higher compression ratios and that think could be pushing close to 500hp - perfect for a limited trim like the TRD Pro.

That is super cool. But what came in my PRO works fine for me. I will use that $1000 for something else, like fishing tackle & gear.

For sure, totally photoshopped rendering is all. I doubt very much that Toyota will depart too far from the Beastly look of the Tundra.

My biggest question is Toyota going to really "go after at it" with the next Tundra or are they going to continue to "play it safe". They've behaved like a company that's totally satisfied with their marketshare with little ambition to expand it.

With Chevy/GMC still offering their V8 options and Ford still offering theirs, along with the new 7.3L in the Tremor. I don’t think Toyota will ditch the V8 anytime soon.

Is it possible? Maybe. They didn’t offer one in 2018.

I think they will do what they did in 2007 - and that was move the bar. Is that power AND fuel economy, or power OR fuel economy - with the power it sounds like it'll get very nice tow ratings. Toyota knows that whatever they do Ford, Ram, and GM will reach it in 2 to 3 years so even if it raises the bar it's not likely to move the needle much in terms of market share.

You mean Ford made bold claims right? :D

Cause the Raptor still averages just about the same as the Tundra even with that turbo. I hope Toyota doesnt go to a turbo, Fords real life numbers have shown that boosting a small motor doesnt really payout on gas savings. But it does apparently cost a bit more to keep it on the road, they even cited increased warranty costs as a reason for 2019 Q4 1.7B loss.

I really doubt Toyota will have 3 or 4 engine options. We’ve heard 3.5TT and 3.5TT-hybrid, will there be a 3.5NA or a 5.7 carry-over? I just don’t think Toyota has that kind of market share for that many options.

They already have all of those engines. They’re just used in the Lexus lineup. it’s still Toyota. It’s not like they can’t switch them into another plant.

Having engines is different than running all those variants on one production line without the volume to support that cost.

One thing is for certain. There WILL be a newly designed Tundra, and it most likely will not boast a V8 engine. The worst part about that for me is the Exhaust Note, imagine the sound of a 3.5 V6TT instead of the 5.7 V8NA with TRD tuned exhaust. Say it ain't so.

Spoke a a rep from toyota....looks like no Pro trucks for 2021, they went w trail series instead. Sad news for sure, this could be the end of the line for the Pro series.
