Underbody oil

Okay, here's one I'm throwing out there... Talked with a mechanic I trust yesterday. He owns a Toyota 4 Runner I believe. He told me about something he did to his undercarriage called N.H. oil. Had it done at a place close to my house... He swears by it and recommended it to me. Anyone ever heard of it? He said they spray it on and you never wash your undercarriage then. I'm going to look in to it myself but I wanted to see if anyone else has heard of it...

 

Similar to Fluid Film, or Krown in Canada. I think NH oil has. Black option that looks good underneath vehicle. I would definitely use it. I spray FF on my truck. They all make a difference in protecting against rust.

 

Buy two tubs of moly-b grease and Shmear it all over your underchassis. Use a plunger rigged up to push the grease in the boxed frame portion. Over time the shiny slick grease layer develops into a hard black shell. You’ll never need to coat your frame again.

 

I got my 2019 TRD sprayed by New Hampshire Oil Undercoating last summer. It's a quick, inexpensive way to protect your investment!! Especially if you live in an area where they treat the roads with sand/salt during the winter months!!

My buddy has his truck fluid filmed regularly, this past year he tried out NH Oil an didn't like it, felt it didn't hold up as good and the splatter / over spray on the truck was more noticeable, which could have been how it was applied. Personally I feel fluid film is to thin to hold up for long, at least where I live through salty winters. I opted to buy a kit on Amazon that uses Woolwax brand undercoating, it came with a undercoating specific spray gun you use with an air compressor and applied it myself. Its definitely thicker then fluid film and stuck like glue for me, even in areas that get a lot of road spray really held up well. I was very impressed with the Woolwax product and it doesn't stink like fluid film..

 

I had my Tundra sprayed with NH Oil last fall, it is still all on there and seems to have protected the underside really well. I'm probably going to wash the bottom off in the spring so I can work on the truck without getting greasy and have it reapplied in the fall.

 

Just happen to be doing mine myself tomorrow. I am using Woolwax.
Seems to be better rated than the others like Fluid Flim

 

As another option i recommend you check out this Amsoil product which i applied right after i bought my truck. Won't wash or wear off as easily like the others tend to do...just my 2 cents of course, but love the protection so far.

I had found where a test was done with the major brands. The Amsoil sounds good but came in 4 th.

They were rated on this order based on test.
1. Fuildfilm (I usedd woolwax since made by same company and just thicker)
2. WD-40 Specialist Long-Term Corrosion Inhibitor
3. Corrosion X HD
4. The Amsoil MP
5. Framesaver

I used the Amsoil MP HD and it has held up pretty good so far for me.

 

Lot of choices.. Thanks for all the recommendations. I'm guessing nothing is perfect. Professional Hand Model, I've not forgotten your suggestion... Just looking at the options... I know I have to do something that's for sure..

The NH oil is available either clear or black. The clear is the way to go.
