Yesterday was my baby boys 18th birthday. He wanted to hit the trails. So we hit Mt Herman Road to get to Balanced Rock Road. @Sredna @COMiamiFan. We are an inclusive group. There was an F-150 loooooong bed and a Jeep that was part of the fun.
Once we got on Balanced Rock road we discovered that it hasn't been traveled on in a while. My boy was busting trail come to find out. He tried 2 or 3 times to get up the hill. My buddies ARB double locked Jeep had the same problem. We used Jose's MaxTrax to get him out.
Before all of this my F-150 buddy got high center on the snow. Jose had to come back and get him out. In my buddy's defense, hes at stock height and his lower control arms were pushing snow. Driving like a wild man! I wont be talking shit about this dude. Definitely will be asking him to come play again in the future.

    This one as well reserved.

As usual, we had a blast! This trip was pretty brutal! As far as driving conditions The rutted ice on the trail beat us up pretty daggum good. I know 3 of us caught some air. My rear view mirror flew off! Had some brats and b-day cake.

West then north. I wouldn't do Balanced Rock by yourself at this time. I think if you stay on Mt Herman, Rampart and Dakan you should be fine.
The weather should be nice all week into the weekend, you should be good to go. Most of the time it was like being on a slot racing car track because of the ice ruts. Didn't fight it, just went with it.

I don’t think I’ve put the truck thru the kind of abuse that we did yesterday. Suspension took a beating and still true, no need for an alignment (shameless plug for @Toytec Lifts).

Got the Usactiontrax the day after we got stuck the last time and used em next time on the trail LOL

Side mirrors got beat up too; ruts kept pushing me into the trees. Definitely learning the limitations and abilities of this truck each time out :muscleflexing:

Definitely took a beating yesterday. I was expecting some pulling or tire vibrations. Nope, none of either. Roughest one to date for me as well.

Grew up in the area (Woodland park). Years ago, we went wheeling down one of the trails that leads to a watershed area just above palmer lake. It started snowing extremely hard and we couldn't make it back up.

The gates were chained/locked, but we had tools. So we took the gates off the hinges to get through the palmer lake side (there is a maintenance road, so we didn't cause any damage. We re-installed everything properly and went on our way.
