Not entirely sure I understand the question, but I thought it cycled through your saved channels.

i think the right-to-left scrolling cycles through the xm 'channel', and up and down goes through your pre-sets, but curious if someone else chimes in with something i dont know....

I believe left and right only cycles stations in the genre you chose if you selected a genre. For instance if “ Rap and R&B” is channels 7-15, and your on 15, the next push will take you to 7 or 14.

Otherwise I think it’s your presets...

Have you looked on the Toyota website for a manual? Many are downloadable there.

If you are listening to a cd or something via bluetooth then left and right acts like FF and REV, up and down skips songs, press and hold the button below to mute.

When I'm listening to XM I always seem to have my FM presets on the screen and pressing up or down in XM mode automatically switches me to FM and it drives me nuts. Why does it show us FM presets when listning to XM? is that something I can change?

I apologize if this counts as a hijack, I thought it was pertinent.

I can't remember what the manual says but the left hand buttons seem to only scroll through your presets. I was also surprised when I discovered this on my test drive as I was expecting to be able to scroll through all the Sirius XM stations the way other cars allow you to do.

I haven't tried using the right hand buttons in conjunction with the DIC as I always have mine set to the digital speedo.

Steering wheel up and down controls are for station presets. I think L&R are volume on my 2019.

Unit up and down scroll through all XM channels. If I remember correctly.

What's weird is the controls for UP should go to a higher channel number but the display shows the channels from low to high (top to bottom), so you press up but it's doing down (to a higher number).

    It's a wonky setup

in XM listening my left and right buttons on thw wheel scroll through the stations in your genre, as has been montioned. I listen to liquid metal and hair nation and ozzys boneyard, scrolling "right" went up to I think 41 or 42, then dropped down to 15 I thnk (it was playing a beatles song). up and down on the wheel switch to FM presets though. Up and down on the head unit go through XM stations.

I wish that left and right did all the xm channels....and yes up and down is presets but they dont hold all the channels i want...but i think u can scroll thru all the xm channels if u reach for the round knob..such a pain...i was curious if yall noticed the flaw...the genre switching is even harder than the knob...and feel free to hijack..just bsing anyhow

Unless you've already added them, I think in settings, you can change how many presets you have.

Can you change the FM presets to be XM presets? when they're playing bonjovi metallica or some mallcore stuff on my regular three stations for the hundredth time I like to move on to shade 45 or 44 for hip hop but have to do it on the head unit rather than the steering wheel.

I think you just get 36 presets (total from every source) that you can set however you like. When you hit the up or down button on the left side of the wheel, it will go to your next preset, regardless of the source. So you could be listening to XM and it will switch to FM if that's what you have preset.

Caveat: this is all based on my test drive when I was trying to test out XM and it kept switching back to FM on me. I currently only have XM stations on my presets.

So I changed my 6 presets over to 5 XM channels and one FM. There are a number of other local stations I'd like ot add as well but it seems that I am stuck at 6 presets total. is this because I have the entry level entune setup? or can this be changed in options?

On my dash display (2015 sr5) when I have the display on the instantaneous fuel consumption the range is a little silly. The range goes from 0-60 L/100km with a hashmark in the middle at 30 L/100km. There are no hashmarks anywhere else and the display is essentially useless as even 30 L/100km is so damn high we only see it when accelerating. I dont need to see that my consumption is high when I'm accelerating a 5200 pound steel shoebox, I want to know my consumption when I'm driving along and getting between 10-18 L/100km. Is there anyway to change the max from 60 to 30? that way the 15L/100km would be the middle hashmark and I could actually see how my driving changes were affecting the fuel consomption rather than trying to keep the line below a non-present hashmark down at the bottom of the scale.

Im not familiar with 6 presets...u should have 3 screens of them...my issue might be with all the presets its still not enough...so i gotta pick out the best of them but still cant scroll thru them all easily...without going into what genre i want

hmm, I'll play around with it when I have a sec. When looking at the screen there is a "greyed out" scroll bar beside the presets suggesting more, but I cant scroll through any more

You should be able to go under settings and choose the number of presets you want to see. I think mine was set to 36 by default. I also don't know if that will have changed from your 2015 to my 2020.

How often are you guys changing channels?

I leave mine on XM Underground Garage for 90% of my driving.

I change channels quite a lot. I hate talk and I refuse to listen to a song I don't like.

I change alot as well. I like talk radio but not when I'm driving. I want music, but the variety on XM has really gone south in the past 10 years. Its nearly as bad as local FM stations. Liquid metal has turned into what Octane used to be...they play slayer all the time because Jose likes them, they play actual metal (never anything actually brutal or non-mainstream through the day) here and there, but its mostly garbage mallcore crap now and it makes me want to punch the stereo, so I go to another station...then that other station plays the same typical band for the hundredth time and im like "ok hair nation, we know bon jovi is popular, but this station is for the real fans of hair metal, weve heard bon jovi before" so I go to another station, ad nauseum. I'm going ot have to find a whole new set of stations to play to get away from these core ones that I used to like. I used to listen to CBC1 alot (I'm in canada) but my politics have recently changed and I cant deal with it anymore, so thats out the door, local FM stations will ocasionally play some gems, but its a hell of alot of CANCON that Ive heard enough of to be honest. I dont stream music because I'm on a work phone, and its an Iphone so I dont have much room for albums. I have a couple dozen I listen to but my wife can only listen to metal or hip hop so much lol.

My brother says Slayer is really good for driving but they're not one of my favourites. Classic Vinyl was better 8 years ago when I bought my last car and Ozzy's Boneyard plays a lot of junk and the same handful of good songs over and over again.

I'm still looking for a station that plays The Tragically Hip, Rush, Tom Cochrane, etc.

The station that plays the hip and rush and red rider etc. is 3 different classic rock stations in kingston ontario all day everyday lol. Thats the stuff I'm sick of. I like all of those bands, but I dont need ot hear limelight or lunatic fringe or fully completely again for the rest of my life (in kingston they play the hip like every 5 minutes).

I wish we had that here. Mostly we get Trooper and all that generic 80s hair type stuff. Also, we get the same 2 or 3 AC/DC and GNR songs over and over again. But maybe I'm biased because I consider The Hip my favourite rock band.

They're almost everybody's favourite band in kingston. The issue is that they play the same songs over and over - new orleans is sinkin', fully completely, nautical disaster, poets and bobcaygeon. If the DJ progammer is feeling frisky they play locked in the truck of a car, grace too, ahead by a century or little bones. kingston is inherently biased to like the hip, but we've all heard the hits 1000 times...play some of the B-sides for cripes sake!

I have a 2019 non nav, non jbl. Here's how I get to the options. 1st) Apps button, 2nd) Setup, 3rd Audio. At this point mine shows Number of Radio presets
    Display Cover Art
    Automatic Sound Levelizer.
I think my 2014 did this too.
    Good Luck.

Try this: Appears that the function changes depending on exactly how long you press the thing. I haven't tried this yet, but have the same questions as you do. From the audio manual online. See SEEK/TRACK switch.

    Edited after trying out:
OK, if you press the seek/track button, which is either up or down, an instant quick press moves you between preset channels. If you hold the button briefly instead of an instantaneous press, you get a little "beep" sound, and it moves you up or down one station in the mode that you're in. So in SXM, it will move you from 006 to 007. and you have to press and hold it briefly again to go to 008. If you hold it past the beep, it starts to scroll upwards or downwards rather rapidly, and it seems to me to be not that useful. Overall, I think this isn't the best system ever. Easier to reach over and use the tuning knob to work through the satellite channels.

For FM and AM its similar, but a bit different since they aren't "channelized, but are just signals that are sitting on the band.

Edited again: Steering controls changed in from 2017 to 2018. 2017 and before has the speaker volume rocker switch separate from the diamond shape switch. In 2018 they changed it and put the volume on the left-right diamond switch.

So some of what you read here from people's experience depends on which model year you're driving. What a pain. Since I went from a 2014 to a 2020, I've had a number of inadvertent phone dials since the current phone on/off is exactly the switch that used to do the speaker volume.

Original post continued below. It relates to the 2020 model, which is slightly different than the 2018 and 2019 in how the control works, if I'm reading the manuals correctly.

Note, somehow the formatting is changing "preset chanel" into a face with reset channel. Sorry.

I played around a bit yesterday and found taht I can add presets in settings. I now have 12 presets, and I thnk I'm going ot have to add more as I was listening to another station I enjoyed this morning. My guage display however doesnt seem ot be able ot be changed, I have only a few options there, language and units, thats it.

Guess I’m showing my age but I listen to Classic Rewind , 80’s on 8 and sometimes Blue Collar Comedy . NHL when there’s a game on . Obviously that’s not all but the majority of the time .

I only have about 20 presets, including Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl, Beatles, Springsteen, Tom Petty, the hard rock and metal channels, the bluegrass channel and Road Trip Radio. Also HLN so I can listen to Forensic Files on the way home from work if no one is playing good music.
