Go with the simple and clean Blades or the more aggressive Star Amor’s? Blades hug up to the body, whereas the Star Armor’s are more bulkier and hang lower.

I have small kiddos as well that will play a factor in deciding which ones to go with.

No complaints here with the Star Armor's, but the choice is yours.

 

i got the blades for its low profile. my truck is not lifted so i did not want the steps to hang down to far

 

I would think the blades would be easier to clean if that is a factor.
If you have small kids, and/or an uncoordinated spouse, getting in and out of the truck I'd pick the blades for that too.
I could see my wife not paying attention and missing the step in high heels.

But the rugged looks of the Star Armor would look good on your Pro..

I haven't had any problems, but most of my off roading is only during hunting season on logging/service rds.

 

I wish the star armor went all the way back to the rear wheel on the Double cab.


They also attach to the cab. So they aren't rock sliders. It you bang hard on one it will dent the cab.

 

I do have small kiddos and a somewhat uncoordinated wife sometimes. Lol. Thanks for your input!

 

Star armor, second vehicle I’ve used them on. Very strong (both attach to the body), and actually fit tight to the body, that’s why I bought them twice, lol. If I was to change I’d buy the Amp research, now those hug the body of the truck well! If your truck is lifted buy the stars, if not buy the blades like the other member suggested.

 

I love the Amps as well, but I can’t justify spending that much! Lol. Thanks, appreciate your input!

 

I will admit I love my Amp steps, 5' wife likes them too.
But they are pricey...

 

I love mine. Still look awesome after two winters. If someone is vertically challenged, they might want some that are lower to help get into truck? Mine look rugged and bad ass! Good luck. D

I’ve had the Tiger Stars on my white 16 CM that was lifted 3”.
They were really nice & sturdy. The bottom tube hung down lower than the stock flat steps by a couple of inches. Never any issues. Nice coating on them.
Great price too.

 

I have the blades and they are super useful and looks nice. Very useful for my little ones.

 

While I prefer the look of the Star bars, I went with the Blades due to the clearance. I don't plan on lifting and didn't want to lose any height. I bought mine from Tyger directly and had a great customer experience. They went on sale the week after I received mine and one email to them resulted in a credit for the difference. They were also cheaper ordering direct than from Amazon.

 

I installed the Tyger Stars when I first bought my truck last month. The fit was awful, a few bolts didn't line up but with a BFH I got all in except the front passenger. I have another set coming from Amazon and hope those will fit better. They are super sturdy and look pretty cool too. Just wish the quality control was better.

 

I got my stars two years ago and they were a perfect fit. All mounting holes lined up. Hopefully Tyger's QC didn't go down hill that much.

I hot the armor ones and they are very nice, but I would go with ones that are lighter if at all possible

 

Thanks for all of your input. I ended up with the Tyger Blades. I really like how low profile they are. They line up with the frame so they don’t affect the ground clearance. Easy install and well built.

I just mounted the blades on my 2013 Platinum today. Very happy with them so far but mine has 4 mount points and the pics here look like 3. My gap between the cab and step is very small on the drivers side near the front tire. Any idea why?

 

Mine had four mounting brackets. The angle of the picture doesn’t show the front mounting bracket. Not sure why the gap is very small? Maybe try adjusting the brackets that attaches to the body to hang at its lowest point. That will push the board a little further away from the cab. Hopefully this helps.

 

I have the Star Armor's on my 2018 Tundra. Very easy install and rugged looking. Love them!!!

OP still happy with these? I’ve had the stars before on my last Tundra and was really happy with Tyger products but do want a flat board that’s better with my dogs and family. I am now torn between these and the Go Rhino RB 10.

 

I have the blades. VERY Happy with them.

 

Love them on my Tacoma and they are holding up quite well after 6 months
