Gonna pull the trigger here in a month on my new lift kit finally. Wanting to rip out front struts, run coilovers and put new shocks in the rear.

Was dead set on Fox 2.5 but don't know where I should by them (online, good price) and started going away from them cause they only lift 2.5.

Got interested in Icon stage 1 since its pieced together and can crank to 3.5 from what I heard but also heard leak issues.

NOTE IM NOT DOING SONORA OR MOAB EVER!!! WANTING BETTER RIDE!!!

Now considering ToyTec Boss or some other kits they have like the Eibach.

Going to run coach builders in the rear like a smart man and then eventually upgrade my UCA's.

I stayed up till about 1230 last night just reading old posts or thread's and seriously seems like it 100% comes down to preferance. For the level of kit im going being damn near a stage 1 really it doesnt seem I could go wrong with any of the companies. Price come's into factor a bit but not really. What comes into factor for me is which one will 100% give me that 3.0 lift that I want. Icon will and can be there all day long along with KING but when I search for Fox its 2.5 or 3.0, I cant find like a definative post that says they come from factory at 3.0. With ToyTec I know I cant go wrong there but also know there are HORROR stories the last couple of years but thats from people doing way more aggressive driving than I will be doing.

This is a daily driver, with a 1 to 2 time weekend a month warrior.

I just want a good kit, that I can pop the front struts and coils out, put in coilover's and take out the rear shocks and put new ones's in and then be good for another 5 years and call it a day.

I just wish more people saw this thread and could pitch in with whichever kit they have so I can make my decision.

If I were you I’d pick whatever brand has your favorite colors and go with that or else you’ll just keep asking over and over which one is better. They all do the same thing better than stock, for a DD and weekend off-roader you don’t need the added cost of a 3.0 shock, 2.5’s do the job just fine. I have kings f&r 2.5’s for 3 and a half years and I love them, no problems.

Yea I think you hit it on the head @Samoan Thor . At this point for a DD which one will give me the color I want, put me at 3.0 and get me to fit 35's

@Toytec Lifts which kit would you recommend? Im currently looking between the Boss, Complete w/ Aluma, Ultimate and Toytec/Eibach

@BOSS4x4s would you recommend the Fox 2.5's front and 2.0 rear? non resi.

@Icon_Adrian would you recommend stage 1?

Also anyone know a good website to order from that has pretty damn good pricing?

Fox 2.5 does not mean 2.5 inch lift. 2.5 is the shock diameter. 3.0 does not mean 3 inches of lift. 3.0 is the shock diameter.

Thank you. I was wondering how long we were going to let this go on.

You can get 4 inches of lift on maxed out fox 2.0 diameter shock. 3.0 shocks are probably not needed for the OP's use, 2.5 body is the standard, will do just fine and achieve the desired 3" of lift no problem.

ToyTec Boss Installed about 6weeks ago. Soaks up the rough off road bumps just fine. And rides better on the hi way! For the price it’s hard to beat? Rear shocks may be a little soft? But handles wash board roads like a dream. I will be towing a boat and a camper soon so I can’t say how that’s going to be but I’m not worried.

Here you are saying 2.5 means they max out at 2.5 inches of lift, which is not true which is why I clarified for you what 2.0 and 2.5 and 3.0 means.
    upload_2020-3-25_10-21-15.jpg

The 0-2 fox coilovers are "0-2 inchs of lift" but "it's really not" because they do go over 2 inches but i think 2" is the recommended max.
    upload_2020-3-25_10-25-34.jpg

I have fox 2.5 coilovers. I have them on the lowest setting they can go and they are at a little over 3 inches of lift. They are advertised at 0-3 inches of lift which i think is very misinforming because i think people would think they could achieve a stock height since it can be 0 inches.

And apparently you can crank icons past the recommended thread showing to get more than 3” with bunpstop shims. I have mine with 2” showing and got about 3” on driver side and and 1.5” showing on passenger and about 2.5” of lift.

@monaco730 you got me there. As I went on reading and going through multiple website's I realized exactly what you called me out on.

But yes in the description it does say 0-2 inches of lift.

I think im gonna go with fox even though red BOSS looks real nice. Also I feel you cant beat Fox's warranty.

I have the fox's and i love em. They are probably overkill for my use but i wanted a security blanket. I do wish i went with the 2.5 0-2 inch lift instead of the 2.5 0-3 inch lift.

Of the options you listed, Icons perform differently. Look at KevinK’s Komodo dragon build for more explanation. Also, any coilover you buy, of those listed, will do what you want, and horror stories usually come about because someone adds a spacer block for more height.

Another way you could figure out what to do is to find builds on here that look good to you, trucks running 35’s, and note their setup. Because, realistically, you want 3” but that will look different on different trucks (every gal knows this ).

@monaco730 Okay PERFECT, explain that part to me.

Cause if nothing else from my research and what I've seen is this:

    Fox 2.5 non-resi = 0-2 inches of lift (what you said 0-2)

Fox 2.5 resi = 0-3 inches of lift (what your saying 0-3)

Is this right and why the hell or better yet why would they do that?

Skip Icon as you probably will not like the ride if you are looking for comfort. Icon's are digressive

    https://accutuneoffroad.com/articles/digressive-vs-linear-vs-progressive-pistons-shock-valving/

Skip UCA's as you want to pair those with EXT travel front coilovers and this really helps with offroading and not comfort. Skip 3.0 shocks if you are not going to offroad. My 2cents is Fox, King, ADS, Icon are all overkill for your needs.

    I would check out these:

    Dobinsons
    https://www.dobinsonsdirect.com/pro...e-cab-4x4?rq=mk_toyota~md_tundra~yr_2007-2019

Falcon (not 3in lift but should still be able to fit some 295's)
    https://teraflex.com/shop_items/200...sport-tow-haul-leveling-shock-absorber-system

    Or the Toytec Boss

Visit fox's website. Below you can see that you can get 2.5 with resi and that comes in both 0-2 inches of lift and 0-3 inches of lift.

@GiantsFanDan your probably right on the overkill part, but now that I'm out of the Corps, have had this baby since day 1 and has been with me every day for the last 10 years I wanna treat her right and keep it as long as I can and turn into my project vehicle now. Not saying that the BOSS kit isnt bad, I've heard plenty of good things, but for me its like giving your girl a Kay jewelrs ring, not a 15K (stage 3 and up) but your still giving her the name associated with ring.

@monaco730 Thanks for clearing all that up. Looks like now I gotta make a choice. Wasnt wanting to go over 2k if I didnt have too. Another reason why I was considering Icon and ToyTec

The link you supplied earlier shows a price way lower than 2k. I don't understand.

Also I suggest Sdhq or toytec. You don’t have to pay advertised price. They have forum discounts and free shipping on certain kits

Go for the Fox setup then and You'll need UCA's for the 3in ones according to SDHQ. You can message SDHQ on here and you can get a forum discount
