What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Get some roll on bed liner and hit that floor with it, done deal. I've been secretly thinking of this for a while.

 

Pretty sure that's just a crack in the seam sealer. I don't believe they're welded. Should be able to clean it up and lay a new bead.

 

One side AAL installed. Gotta do the brake line and other side later tonight.

 

That didn't look too much like a crack to me but just some dried sealant?

 

This is my first rodeo. So you know how that goes. A serious learning curve is required.

 

Lay a bead of Fuze by Liquid Nails on it. Or, just leave it like it is and not worry.

 

Ordered new p/s hose, energy suspension spring isolators, and OME 2886 springs to finally finish the front suspension on the Turdna. Hyped! Although I just realized I forgot to order a Swaybar link...

 

Have you already explained; is it a custom rack? Pics? Where from and how many pennies?

 

What pn did you use for the isolators? I didn’t see one for an 06

 

Posted the roof rack earlier in the thread (I think a page or two before).

@toyotech2016 makes the side/front pieces and sends hardware then you buy the extruded aluminum crossbars.

I believe all in, about $600.

 

For those of you who have bought back up cameras, have you needed to buy extension wires to make the distance? Or is the wire it comes with long enough? Im planning on wiring to the top of my camper shell. Thanks

Haha thank you. It's a nice private neighborhood with access to a big private ski lake! Def a great starter house.

Plans are my knock off maxtrax, 4 gallon Tonopah and a pelican case for recovery gear.

I have everything but the pelican case currently.

 

The NATIKA camera I bought had more than enough cable to reach. I had another 3-4 feet pf cable I could have used.

 

she is all done.. tomorrow i may do the body harness. we'll see how im feeling.

 

Happy to report that with the overload I’ve gained 1.2” of lift giving me exactly .5” of rake I was looking for. This is with the 300lb cap on the truck.
(Will get a pic tomorrow, garage is packed because of the storms)

 

More than enough on my Pioneer ND-BC8....Rearview Camera itself had 10' wire that plugged into the RCA pwr supply cable that was 13' long !

 

Started early this morning. Just before first light. I've wiped down, and vacuumed the bare metal inside. Lots of dust build up.

Strung up the carpet. It was mostly dry except small damp areas of insulation on the belly. I sprayed the belly with odo-ban. Hung, and drying in a constant light early morning breeze.

Once the insulation is dry I will flip, and apply odo-ban to the top.

Used stakes to keep the carpet separated from itself. I know the stakes LOOK dirty, but I wiped down, and cleaned all surfaces that touch the rug. Shortly after picture was taken I put in paper plates on the ends so it wouldn't cut it's way through as unlikely as that may be.

This is where I'm at right now.

 

Further proof that the overload is key if you want any lift. I wish they would modify their instructions.

 

While everything is stripped, and drying I am considering investigating the cigarette plug light.

Has anyone actually taken everything apart correctly to get to it, or is that more trouble than it's worth?

I know @Professional Hand Model has made it work, but I'm curious how it all comes apart. Lol

 

How did the carpet turn out? Did most of the stains come out?

 

Most of the big stuff came out, but where it was left a faint stain. Looks good so far. I'll post pictures when I flip it.

 

So as it turns out, if I have a decent amount of sleep I can actually figure things out on my own. As much as that might surprise some of you lol

Thanks! I have two drills, one impact wrench 3/8 drive stubby M12, and the impact driver as pictured.

I plan on expanding eventually.

Also after careful dissection I see why @Professional Hand Model had to make a bulb fit. I am going the same route. I was thinking the bulb in this was similar to the lights in the instrument cluster. Turn, remove socket, and then remove bulb from socket. Pretty ugly right now as I'm still working on fitment.

Removed the pins from the socket, and then soldered them onto new led.

I had to make the socket fit the bulb. Soldering iron, a razor knife, and cutters later. I have something that loosely holds onto the bulb. Not the best, but not the worst.


Had to play around with this to get it to fit into the lighted ring for plug.

Since I did not bring all the pieces with me into the house... I forgot a piece when I superglued the socket, and ring light together. Whoops. The trim piece I thought I forgot. Turns out the superglue never actually set. Must be the type of plastic.

 

A better fit now.

I feel like Johnny Cash. One piece at a time.


I'll come out tonight and take a picture for you guys. I nicked a tiny piece of the white on the trim. I'm not sure I'll notice it once it's all installed.

 

Yes and Yes, However, I was determined to remove it properly without destroying it. Always like to hang onto all originals just in case. Of course in a few months or years I won't remember where I stored them

As always, there are Utubers out there that help. I'll attempt to find the one that gave me balls to even attempt the major surgery and post if I find it !

Edit....seems you got ur done. Yeah, I would loved to have been able to drop my dash portion down like that, great job @Tundra2
