I Google searched and tried searching through the forums, couldn't find much info on this. I am not looking to push it to the limits, just curious. I've seen the video of the black Tundra blasting through that intense flood, but I'm just looking to not flood the cab! I will probably purchase a diff breather before heading into any high water areas, Thanks.

Very simple rule of thumb I use... Never go faster than idle speed and never go deeper than the top of your tires, about 31". Also let the diffs cool to ambient temp before going through water.
Personally I hate driving through water because it washes out wheel bearing lubrication.
Can you go faster and deeper? Sure. Good luck tho.

Keep in mind your alternator is on the bottom of the engine.

So a tundra fording depth hasn't been established?

If you haven't done a rear diff breather mod then you shouldn't go any deeper than mid axle. Unless you want peanut butter in your diff.

After that, keep it below your floor boards if you don't want water in the cab.

Yep, been there, concrete pad in creek bottom was washed out and about 1/3 of the way across my front end dropped over a foot instantly. Not a fun experience. Always do the stick test in muddy water!!!!

I don’t know about being in a flood for hours, but if it’s just a typical water crossing like a river, water won’t get into the cab.

So what's the next concern after passing the diffs (with a rear breather mod)?

Losing traction/contact with the bottom is certainly a concern.

I don’t like crossing water when my rotors are red hot. I did once and I could basically see the water boiling and steam shooting out my wheels. Lol. I think that might’ve warped my rotors. But the next major concern is your intake. Suck water in there and you’re done.

If you dont know, the engine air intake (and air injection system) is inside the wheel well behind the fender liner. It's not in a good location for water crossings.

If not mistaken, up behind brake fluid resevoir area on firewall. Think that is what I read somewhere anyway.

Thanks yall. We have a lot of flash flooding in the area and sometimes I have to go to calls that require driving through flooded roads and I'm considering a snorkel and any other mods, just in case. As well as knowing my limits. I won't drive through water for fun, btdt and nearly floated a 3/4 ton off the road and into something that would have killed me so I'll pass on that on purpose. Not looking to start filling my cab with water again.
