A couple weeks back I had a shop install Eibach Pro-truck leveling shocks (2.5” of lift) and Toytec Boss in the rear with a 1” shackle. Now if I make a really sharp turn (cutting steering wheel to the max like for a U turn) I hear a creak. It happens in both directions. Any ideas? I posted photos of the drivers side but am not sure what to look for.

    Thanks in advance!

Not enough info to determine the noise. But your abs wire is not in the clip on the uca.

I’m assuming they did an alignment too? Was it there right after the install? Maybe it settled and needs another alignment. Check that all bolts are tight too.

Yes they did an alignment. I didn’t make any tight turns until pulling into my driveway at home. Planning to get new tires soon so maybe I could do another alignment then.

What side of the vehicle does the creak? Also I was noticing and it would be the picture the sway bar end the bolts into the LCA looks to be angled (barrel) as if it’s not really bolted.

A lot of times suspension creak can be resolved by re-torquing once the truck has full weigh on all the components. I’d maybe ask the shop to recheck that.

Both sides creak when you turn the wheel to the max. I will try to retorque what I can get to at some point this week. The shop is over an hour ago and might not be open right now due to covid-19.

I think you are hitting the wheel stops. Not the suspension at all. Put a light coat of grease on them and drive it around to see if that's it.

What do you mean by wheel stops? Bump stops? 1 or 2 in the photo attached?

#2. Thats where Toyota trucks always seem to make a noise at full lock.

@dpast88 did you figure this out? I just found I have the exact same issue. I installed Bilstein 6112s at 1.9”, and just today noticed a noise almost like a loud creaking noise at full wheel lock in both directions. I had an alignment done too - the truck drives fine - but at full hard wheel lock I hear the noise.

Went through and checked the torque on all the components. Didn’t find any issues. Grease came in the mail yesterday, will be greasing the wheel stops today and see if that’s the issue. I am banking on this being the fix because I only hear the noise on full lock in either direction. Will update this thread today or tomorrow.

Thanks for the update - please keep us posted. I’ve got some grease laying around and will try to do the same thing.

I would start with spraying the suspected movement areas with a spray lubricant one at a time. Hopefully that makes sense.

I just checked one of my LCA bolts and it was way too easy to turn and doesn’t seem torqued - I am going to take it back to the alignment shop and have them recheck everything.

When I installed my 6112s I loosened the LCA bolts which were super tight - took me and my cheater bar all we had to loosen them.

anyone know the torque specs for the LCA bolts? It’s not in the torque spec Sticky thread.

edit: found that the LCA cam bolts should be torqued to 207 ft-lbs. No way mine were torqued at all.

@Seaflea you da man! Greasing the wheel stops worked. No more noise.

@glowblue you should give this a try. 2 spots in front and back of each wheel (4 total for each front wheel).

Awesome glad it worked out. I suspect mine might be loose LCA bolts after my alignment - but I’ll try that too just for shits and grins.

OK, so my noise is still present. Here is what I've done with no luck:
    1. I took the truck into the alignment shop - they tightened/re-torqued all my front suspension bolts. No fix.
    2. Greased the wheel stops both sides of each front tire - no fix.
    3. Disconnected my front sway bar - no fix.

I am at a loss. I only installed Bilsteins set at 1.9" with Boss 1/4" shims on each coilover. Here is a video of the sound. It only occurs at or near full wheel turn in both directions while moving foward - you don't hear it in reverse.

    Any ideas?

Tire rubbing the stock splash guard. Pull the splash guard and the sound should disappear. You'll need to trim the sides to make those tires clear.

I checked and don’t have clearance issues that I can see - I am running 275/70R18. But I’ll take the splash guard off just to rule it out.

You guys are scaring me. I just got my 6112's and 5160's in via UPS today. Friday install at local lift/tire guys. I am praying that I don't have that noise come up. I will update after install.

Ok I checked again and it appears to be tires rubbing on the stock skid plate! I’m going to take it off and see for sure but I’ll be damned... I never read where the skid plate can cause interference with 275/70R18s!

Edit: confirmed...taking off the stock skid plate was it...I just didn't fully see the interference until now. Gives me a reason to look into upgrading to an RCI or TRD skid plate!

Don’t overthink it. I installed the Eibach Pro Truck 3” lift yesterday , no issues.

You’ll be fine - I installed 275/70R18s on stock TRD Pro wheels and never have I come across anyone reporting issues with rubbing on the skid plate. I did my own install of the 6112s and 5100s in the back so I was worried I messed something up but my install was spot on.

The alignment shop had to adjust the toe so possibly that caused my issues. I just didn’t think to consider the skid plate.

Thanks - actually have me a reason to buy the RCI skid plate. I just changed my oil and thought about it since I hate removing the stock skid plate - and now this makes it easy to justify the upgrade!
