So Rough Country is doing 0% for 24 months and I absolutely love their model truck for their 6 inch lift. Got all the details pinpointed thanks to some members here helping me what the setup had.

Threw everything in the cart. Then googled truck lift shops here in Tucson. The 5 star shop here was literal 2 minutes away. Drove over before they closed. The owner told me right off the bat that he won't install Rough Country. Saying they are crap and will not ride good at all. He started to say there is no shocks or coils and basically just spacers. Did say he would look into it further when I said I added the shocks options.

Can I get some opinions on the Rough Country?

Think my max budget is about 3k for the lift portion before install. I do off-road a little here or there. Nothing major just trail puddle splashing and dirt road day trips. It is a 2016 CrewMax Limited TRD 4x4.

Rc has an option to add coilovers to their kit.

Had a rough country 3inch spacer kit it was garbage, now I have the Toytec aluma series with jba uca’s and I smile everyday on the way to work with how it handles.

I heard Toytec sells good stuff. I remember looking at them when I had a Tacoma.

I am wanting a 6 inch lift and their 6 inch lifts are really high in price. So it is definitely a deterent.

Rough Country does have the spacer kit but their options for coilovers still seems reasonable.

I had rough country lifts on my various suburbans and jeeps. They are cheap but the ride has always been rough, their shocks blow out within a year and the steal they use is soft and had track bars tear from their mounts.

    Well that doesn't sound good.

Wonder if I should look at Pro Comp with their struts and add a leaf. I know the dealerships use them. Think Rocky Ridge uses that for their conversion trucks too.

Not sure about lifts but I was helping another member with a carrier bearing drop kit. They bought a RC drop kit and installed it. It consisted of a 3/4" carrier bearing spacer, 2 bolts and 2 washers. The bolts and washers looked like something you'd get from Home Depot for assembling your kids swing set. I've never had any experiences with them, but after I saw that I determined I never will.

6" RC suspension lift, 18" Pro Comp wheels, 35x12.5x18 tires, RC front/rear bumpers, RC Grill insert, Spider No Drill Roof Rack, Lighting by RC and Cali Raised. Interior mods include AJT Designs, Pioneer, and Rockford Fosgate.
I have a RC 6" lift, have had it for over a year. No issues whatsoever. Just because it may be cheaper priced doesn't mean its cheaper goods. To each his own, just my 2 cents...

Nothing wrong with RC. This truck is half Procomp, Half RC, Lol
My Stage one Procomp had the spacer and then I switched out to the RC extended coilovers.

Not sure how yours is planned, but if you add shocks to spacers, there’s a good chance the shocks will collapse if you ever take a big hit. I know you said you only do light wheeling, puddle-play... but if you hit a dip wrong, or there’s a big rock you don’t see in a puddle, you can lose those shocks in a hurry.

If you do anything other than pavement, I add my voice to the ‘no spacers ever’ advice. Save for shocks and springs.

Buy once cry once. I would save up a little longer for a nicer kit. Suspension is one of those things you dont want to cheap out on since its a vital function to your truck both in comfort, capability, and safety. Whether you will be happy with the RC kit now and 2 years from now is a gamble, but with nice quality components its a guarantee youll be happy now and later on.

I have had mine now for going on 4 yrs. No issues at all. Changed my spacers out to the extended coilovers.
20200402_185855.jpg Screenshot_20200407-211410_Chrome.jpg this loft from rc is the best you can get from them I guarantee you wouldn't have any complaints. But it's also really pricey.

Lots of hate on many forums for Rough Country, but ain’t nothing wrong with their lift kits. They carry a great warranty including on their shocks. Many many trucks in this country are lifted with RC lift kits and many bash their trucks and don’t have issues. I have had RC kits before and my son runs a 6 inch on his 19 Tacoma. He has 35 k on the kit with ZERO issues. If you can afford to upgrade to their struts on the front do it. Almost all of the 6-7 inch kits are similar in construction. If you look on this forum you can find some negative reviews on the RC, BDS, Pro Comp. My installer is one of the most respected lift shops in the VA, MD and Carolina areas. He installs RC lifts and says they are good lifts. Yes I have a BDS lift kit, only because I wanted a 7 inch lift and run wide offset wheels and 35’s. Many “shops” bash a certain brand, be cautious of that, because they get better profits from selling certain brands. I’ve said it many times on here. Buy the lift you can afford, and use the BEST installer/shop in your area, anyone can install these lifts, but many struggle with getting everything right and struggle with alignment. You want more info PM me.

 mine rides like a stock truck now. And believe it or not going from 18" wheels on 35s to 22" on 35s made the ride even better. You would think the opposite but nope for some reason I hardly feel bumps in the road

I talk to a guy who used to design Readylift kits and went over to RC because of improvements they are making on their kits. He flat out told me the old kits are trash and has cemented people's ideas of what RC is but the newer stuff that's out is good. Looking at how they're making their new kits what with the coilovers and just the fact that he's now designing for them gives me the confidence that if I were to buy a 4-6" kit these days I wouldn't think twice about buying RC.

Wow all good stuff. So it sounds like if you go with the upgraded kit with the coil-overs. It should be fine. The shop guy I visited says he doesn't favor any brands and will install what you want. Probably is familiar with the old Rough Country like texasho83 said. Good to know.

I will make sure to talk to some other shops as well.

Listen to the shop owner. If he doesn't want to touch a rough country lift its probably because he has in the past and people have brought them back with problems.

If I had 3k + to spend on a lift Rough Country wouldn't even cross my mind.

Looks like Readylift uses spacers too. No coilover option.

Bulletproof looks great but geez get really expensive with options!
