So I have seen a few references about removing the front sway bar having benefits.

Is that for any type of lift or just in general.

I have 6112s at top setting and 1.5” shackles in the rear. I was under my truck yesterday doing my brakes and was tempted to remove it but I thought I would get some real advice from the forum first.

Let's the front suspension act completely independent so you don't get any cross talk when you hit a bump and arguably allows for more "flex". Down sides are you lose corner handling. Usually people who go offroading pull it. On solid rear axle vehicles usually the consensus is a rear sway bar to assist cornering, and no front away bar to fully utilize the fronts independent handling, and the rear sway bar will help stiffen the rear end and force the front to flex more.

Do it if you're lifted. I pulled mine a week or so ago. I'm not going back. For what it's worth I don't take corners at mach speed.

When I lifted mine on 35s there was a rub so I removed it. Like you, I was concerned with corner holding, etc. But after driving with it off for more than a year I really haven't noticed body roll. Granted I don't drive my 7000lb truck like a teenager but I in real-world driving I would say its not a biggie. especially if you are already changing suspension and tires.

Should it come off if you use the 6112's only for leveling??

Mine has been off for 4 years, no problems, took a freeway exit at 80mph still stable enough but then again it’s not a race truck. You’re not gonna roll over like many people believe after taking off the sb, that’s the driver’s fault. Sway bars are for cars, no more bobble heading in the truck, plus it’s a bit smoother.

Anti-roll bars are for trucks... I would not drive one without them mounted front & rear.

I’m running 6112s on the top setting up front and decided to pull mine off today. Definitely made for a smoother ride on a rough and bumpy, pothole filled road near my house. There’s not a huge difference in body roll to me so far, but I’ve only drive a couple back roads so far. Try it, and if you don’t like it put it back on. Hardest part is removing the skid plate.

Farm tractors drive great without a front sway bar.

and this is a good article....why i've got upgraded sway bars on all my other cars....but definitely not my tundra.

I know plenty about how suspension works, have aftermarket suspension on all my vehicles (including setups i've had custom valved, custom spring rates for, etc). Have owned plenty of cars that have seen a race track. Will never put the sway bar back on my tundra.

Any good driver will properly know how to properly handle their vehicle with or without. Any stupid driver can completely ruin a vehicle with or without.

Why are some of you making it seem like you’ll die if you take it off. If you don’t know how to drive then you shouldn’t be messing with your suspension at all, and probably shouldn’t have a license. The very first sentence of that article talks about taking corners fast. We drive full sized trucks. Immediately I know that article doesn’t apply to me. If you are a capable driver, however, then I don’t see any harm in removing it and trying it out to see if you like it or not. It’s all just personal preference.

Criticizing someone to exercise caution instead of pull stock suspension components off without fully understanding why is like laughing at someone who refuses to jump off a bridge because they saw someone on YouTube do it.

Like I said, if you don’t know how to drive you shouldn’t be messing with your suspension in the first place.

I just took mine off last Saturday because:

    1. I wanted to clean off the 30# of dirt on top of the skid plate between the engine. It was an easy enough job to take it off.
    2. I was curious how it would handle.
    3. What else am I going to do, thanks to the 'ronies.

Initial impressions when taking driveway entrances on a diagonal are that it handles bumps like this way smoother. I need to take it in the dirt though to get a better comparison of how it was before. I'd get rocked on washboard type stuff where the whoops were not completely perpendicular to the truck and that was super annoying. Motorcycle in the back would be really stretching the tie-downs! I can see it handling those situations much better now. Driving normally seems a tad more "wobbly" maybe? Overall though, i'll leave it off for a while and see how it goes. If I end up needing to tow anything it will go back on for sure. I think it would definitely feel unstable while towing anything with significant weight.

Just like you should only jump off a bridge if you know what you’re doing. Not because you saw someone else do it on a forum.

Driving a full size truck safely at a higher rate of speed on twisty roads requires skill, experience and anti roll bars.
