Welp I purchased the truck in February used with the Magnuson SC installed. SC was installed Feb 2019. I’ve been completely content with it up until now. With a baby on the way and not really needing the extra torque, I’m thinking about uninstalling.

My question is, after uninstalling, will everything be back to normal? I know the tune is hard flashed into the ECU and I can’t really go back from 93 Octane. But what I want is just a reliable Tundra with zero worries.

Everything should go back to normal. Did you save the take offs from when the charger was installed? Its my understanding that they have to change the injectors and fuel pump so not sure if those will work with stock tune. As far as the computer, you should have no problem restoring the factory tune.

If you don't have the take off parts I think your going to be spending some money on stock parts.

@Tundyfundy The take-offs came with the truck when I purchased it from Toyota. So I will have to do sure change the injectors and fuel pump. Not too bad. Hoping to get a dap tune afterwards if I do end up removing it. I think I’m mostly inclined cause I just bought it, owe money on it, and don’t want to break shit before I pay it off haha and it’s running a little rough with the BD Tune

But what's the benefit of taking it off when there's nothing wrong with it. Is the extra torque and hp somehow hurting you? Just seems like a big waste of money. I'd just wait until it needs an overhaul like stated above?

I guess you’re right. It’s only got 10k on it. I think she just needs a proper DAP tune

What’s some ways you guys think you can bulletproof your engine with the supercharger installed? I know routine maintenance but is there any other add ons?

I think you are just wasting time and money. If you are running rough it might have nothing to do with the SD or the Magnuson tune.

I guess I’m not used to it being SC’d since my last truck wasn’t. It’s not too rough. I was told from the get go that Tundras shift a little janky. Especially getting out of 4th, it wants to jerk on a declined pavement. That’s the only time it wants to act weird and when reversing up my inclined driveway, a little jerky.

You will get 2-3 more mpg if you don't romp on it. I have a 30-40 mph back road commute that I just put along with barley any effort from the SC'd motor and get 19+ mpg. Same commute without the SC was 16 mpg. So, you have the most efficient setup to get the best mpg, And when you need it, you have ALL the power you could ask for. Keep it, be responsible with it, and it will last. They only recommend an oil change at 100k. Other than that you are ahead of many on this forum that would kill for a SC!

I'd imagine that the value of a used SC minus the cost to uninstall is what, $4k? Best case $5k? I'd say do it only if you're selling the truck and parting it out.

I just passed 230k on mine and it's boosted (granted, not its whole life). Never broken or had any issues associated with the blower, and I run a smaller pulley and I romp on it and tow with it often. Lots of documented cases of the bullydog being a POS, I would get a different tune. As far as shifting, the tune can fix that and the Tundra shifts like a retard regardless of the blower in my experience with the stock tune. I think you gain absolutely nothing from removing it besides -150hp.
