I'm not getting the impression that our protagonist here is getting the socket on squarely. Does everyone else see the scratches on the dust shield where the ratchet is rubbing? Dude needed a deep-well, 6-point socket on a short extension and a bunch of controlled force.
But I fear its past that point now. I think the best course of action would be cut off the head, grip the threads with flat-jaw vise-grips, and twist it out. I sincerely doubt it's so seized in that once relieving the tension the bolt-head is supplying won't get him over the hump. If it still won't come out, Kroil and map torch.
And worse case, he can put on the new LBJ with 3 bolts and drive it to a shop for professional assistance.

Not against using a cheater pipe either. This isn't a strength competition. Leverage is your friend, and also your enemy if its cross threaded or siezed.

Did an oil change. Pennzoil 5W30 Platinum Synthetic High-Mileage and a Napa Platinum Filter. Did the same in my Avalon also - same oil, also Napa Platinum filter. I wish the Avalon didn't need the stupid weird-arse tool and use that annoying cartridge though. Simple screw-on / screw-off filters make so much more sense to me.

Oil was on sale for $32.99 (Canadian $) for 5 litres, which - here in Canada - is a pretty good deal. Bought the filters on sale a while back when I noticed the deal in the Napa flyer. Nice to have those done now.

Solar installed on the camper plus some more dieting done to the interior. With Jack's removed I'm hoping to have it under 1100 lbs.

My ARB tire kit came in yesterday as well as the UHMW tape. Picked up a VR10 Gen II Winch this morning since my Zeon 12 didn't fit. This came with a mount kit for an 09-12 Dodge Ram that I need to sell separately but it also came with some LED lights and the wireless remote so if I can get some money out of the mount kit (sells for over $600) I should come out pretty well.

About to leave to go pick up my plywood to start the drawer build today!

Do you have a crap ton of all the clips and push clips, or are you just really good at removing panels without breaking every single one?

I don’t break many. But the harness style ones that are zip ties I have loads of because of the frame swaps

Success! Thanks so much everybody for helping me out with that stuck bolt! It took a combination of peoples suggestions. I bought the Bolt extractors that were mentioned, bought a blow torch, and hit it with lots of PB Blaster (I have Kroil on the way from Amazon, but wont be here another 2 weeks). I hammered as well and used my breaker bar and slowly applied pressure and it finally slightly budged. Then I double checked to make sure it wasnt just stripping it further and I gave it another slow movement and it was free! Now Im hammering my lower control arm to get the ball joint to pop free. Still no luck but the other side came loose in like 2 blows. Time to relax and have a beer for now though. Im sooo happy I got this bolt off. I already have all new ones so I dont have to worry about reusing this one.

Thanks again for everyone's help. I guess now Ive learned some things from all this. Ill stick to 6 sided sockets now. I was actually using a 6 side deep socket from Craftsman. And the bolt mangled the socket! Thanks again guys, have a great weekend!

Good to hear but go rent one of these from your local auto parts store. Way easier.

Congrats!! That’s a good feeling to get it free without further destruction. If your new LBJs came with a new castle nut, you can leave your old on on the threads and smack that as well as smacking your lca to get it free(I still used wood against the castle nut when I wacked from below)

I vinyl wrapped my bumper strip and i bought a limited grill. Im not a fan of plasti dip so the gloss vinyl looks good. I was ganna maybe swap a 00-02 bumper and leave my 03 grill which would eliminate the molding all together but we will see.

I did get new castle nuts with my new LBJs. Maybe Ill have to give that a go, but if I still dont get it off, Ill just grab that Ball Joint tool CodyP recommended.

Yes it was such a good feeling seeing that bolt move and knowing it was finally free and not just stripping further. Well now I got some new tools for the future!

Spray some OB blaster on the portion of the lbj that comes thru the lca, it won’t hurt anything, a little extra lube never hurt anyone

I was thinking the same. If a panel is held on with three clips I will break two and celebrate that one survived

I'd rather install headers than pop off interior trim.

I've never understood leaving the old nut on when smacking at a threaded bolt or whatnot. At best you get it to become loose but now you have a hell of a time getting the old nut back off since you fubar'd the threaded with your BFH....

Well just got back from HF. Smacked that ball joint separator until it was fully seated and it popped right off! Both LBJs are removed! Now to put it all back together, haha. Wish me luck!

Reinstallation seems pretty straight forward, I guess just reverse the process of taking them off. But if anyone has any useful tips before I tackle the installation of the new ones, I'd love to hear them! I have red loctite and blue loctite. Should I go with the blue on the 4 bolts that attach the LBJ? Or the red Loctite?

My pops asked me today why I hadn't installed my rear shocks yet.

I told him "I'm still waiting on more parts."

Pops said "What are you waiting on now?"

I said "I'm waiting on rear leafs to get here."

Pops said: "Why are you ordering... Your leafs are probably good! How much did you spend on them?"

I said: "My old leafs are about flat, and I want to replace them before they get too bad. The truck is almost 2 decades old with 312,000 miles. What I spent doesn't matter."

He pressed more, and more until I finally told him I spent $790 on leaf packs.

I thought he was going to stroke out.

He started giving me a lecture about how he would never have done that. Thats too much money, and you'll have to do the work yourself.

I told him: "I am not you. How many times have I told you that if I have ANYTHING to do with it that truck will outlive me? Regarding doing the work yourself, that's the point."

Man, I hate that I had to move back in. I love my parents, but damn is my Dad nosey. He grew up dirt ass poor, and likes cheap fixes.
