Small scratch/ ding on new wheel

Just had my sensors replaced on my brand new fuel wheels and noticed a small scratch where discount tire installed new TPMS sensors on 2 of the wheels. Went to discuss it with the manager and he stated that they can have the wheel resurfaced and fixed. Has anyone had this done or am I better off fixing it myself.

 

Would have to see how bad it is.

If it’s not too bad, try yourself....... and put it on the passenger rear so you’ll never see it.

 

Without seeing a picture i would say thats pretty nice gesture. I dont know how important fixing the scratch is to you, but maybe they could give you something else of equal value?

 

Many dealers actually have ppl that come to the lot and resurface/fix wheels on the lot all the time. Usually on trades I think where trying to squeak the lil bit extra from a trade in on the resale end. Honestly if they did that and didnt tell you, you probably wouldn't have ever known. Those guys for the most part are that good.

 

Similar thing happened to me at America’s tire when I bough Fuel Trophy’s from them, I got a new wheel and they sold me the
scratched one for 100 bucks
Good spare tire wheel.

 

Thinking maybe a sharpie or just ignore it like was stated above. Do you think it will spread or peel if left alone?

 

Looks like they got it pretty good. I'd definitely let them try to correct it.

 

Exactly what I was thinking. If they refinish it and I don't like the work then will ask for new rim at that point.

 

Yikes, all the way down to the metal is enough for me to have them fix.

 

That will flake over time....probably a solid year or so before it does....but it will.

 

Yeah they need to make that right. At first I thought you might be overreacting until I saw the picture, I would not be happy with that.

 

This pisses me off so bad! It's like " dude, this is what you do for a living". These kids at these shops just fly through the process not even thinking "what if these were my brand new rims". Make them fix it, don't blow it off.

 

I was thinking the exact same thing when I first saw it. The manager knew that his guys messed up.

 

I had a dealer repair the rims on my wifes vw passat, got some pretty good curb rash and they looked like new afterwards. I talked to the guy that fixed them at the time was around 75 a rim I believe, depending on how much damage.

 

Manager here at Discount tire decided to send off 2 of the 4 wheels which had some damage. Hope it doesn't happen again once they come back and then reinstall, until then the yota is going to look like it skipped leg day...

 

Both wheels look new again. Discount is keeping me as a customer for awhile since they corrected their mistake.
