Does anyone know if you can connect the solar 7.5 watt maintainer to the OBDll to keep the Battery charged. Haven’t been able to run my truck with the virus as I am high risk. I live in Fl so sun is no problem. I don’t want to run an extension cord under my garage door. Any suggestions will be appreciated. My battery has died twice and it is a fairly new triple a battery.

id go directly to the battery, or if you rig up your cigarette lighter to be always on, you could use that

I run a cheap Harbor Freight solar charger for my car trailer battery, no issues so far.
I would say charge your battery fully then hook up the solar charger to maintain it.

Buy a trickle charger, I have one on my 2015 Sequoia and 2018 Tundra when they are parked for longer than 2 weeks. My Sequoia is on the charger 24-7 when we use the Tundra all the time, it also my wife's vehicle. I got started using a trickle charger 30 years ago on my motorcycle, still starts my 03 Goldwing.:oldglory:

I don't understand how you can't "run your truck"? You can go outside and start it. Also...You are not going to catch the "Wuhan" virus driving around in your truck.

EDIT: had to put wuhan in quotes because when typed out it automatically changed to coronavirus....Just ridiculous! Really?

I agree. I’m sorry that you’re high risk, but driving your truck around the block alone once a week will probably be good for you.

Remove the battery and keep it on a maintainer inside your house. Or just unplug the negative and leave it in your truck.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, I did try running around the block but it didn’t keep it charged. You all are right about not catching the virus riding in the truck. Wallygator that was a good one, I can see how that would happen . I am going to charge the battery up and try the maintainer. So nobody said anything about charging through the OBD. Deltran has a cable for such.

You gotta take it for a longish drive. Get on the freeway when there is no traffic and drive for 20 miles then turn around. Your engine will enjoy the workout. Seals and gaskets And bearings need lubrication, so really using it is going to keep it nice. Cars that sit too much often have low miles, yet their parts seem to deteriorate faster than more used vehicles

U could just u plug the negative like @Stig said. Id suggest taking it out for a little cruise to charge it up before doing so. Ive left batteries unplugged for months with no problem.
