I'm trying to pick between the Yokohama Geolandar MT and the Toyo Open Country MT. There's about a $500 difference but I like both equally - leaning towards Yoko since I've never run them and I'm curious. Seen good reviews and read from people who have run them.

Has anyone here run them before? Feedback? TIA

I don't think there is a $500 difference in the sets of tires, there wouldn't be for me anyways. I may run the Yoko's next time on my truck. My dad put them on his 08 Duramax, and they look good. Low noise right now (of course will get louder), but they balanced up really well and heavy duty. The shop hadn't installed many of them as they primarily sell Mastercrafts, but they said they were impressed at how aggressive the tire was and how well it balanced up.

check the weight difference between the two- I always go for the lighter tire if the durability is roughly the same

I had the Yokohama M/T the first 2-3000 miles they were not bad but after awhile they howled/droned really bad!

Tire noise doesn't bother me in the least.

Are you going to be doing aggressive offroading?
I switched from Yokohama M/T to Toyo M/T. My primary reason was a size increase, but the traction difference offroad was impressive. I don't really have anything bad to say about the Yokohamas, but I am beyond happy with the Toyo M/T, it was a noticeable increase in offroad traction.
If you are just looking for an good looking tire for driving around on the street or maybe a dirt road, the Yokohamas will be fine and save you some money.

Yeah my days of mudding while throwing 20 ft rooster tails are over lol. I get on the beach once or twice a month and that's about it.

That is why my days are done doing it lol. With a 15 month old time is at a premium.

Great in mud and deep snow, poor on icy roads, 50k tire at least

Fortunately we don't have ice around here. Good feedback thanks.
