I'm wondering if it's possible to get navigation on this factory radio.

If so... how do I go about it ? It appears like a possibility... but this new technology stuff is starting to get well ahead of me. :D

I've already paired via Android Auto and managed use google maps... but it is a pain in the ass and especially not easy to fumble with while driving.
I'd much rather have integrated navigation so I'm not dependent on my phone being plugged in with a cable.

Anyone willing to offer their two cents ?

It should be installed and included; I'd just take it to the dealership and have them install it.

I believe the navigation app is only with the premium audio found in the limited and platinum, not the SR5.

Yeah I just got off the phone with my salesman and he confirmed the same thing. Said that the SR5's don't offer nav and easiest thing to do is just use the android auto app and navigate via google maps or waze, etc... otherwise I would need to upgrade/swap to the better head unit.

I still don't like having to tether my phone to the radio... so I may just grab one of those center dash mounts and hang my phone on it to navigate.

They do make those wireless dongles for CarPlay, and Android Auto - one of those would be a good solution for you.

I have an SR5. Grant it it's a TRD Sport, but I have the navigation.

Stupid question, but have you gotten on the toyota website to check for compatible applications? maybe you can download it to a flash drive then upload in the truck.

Downloading an app would be ideal...

I will look into it further when I get a chance.

It shouldn’t matter which Tundra you have, they all come with maps.

According to Toyotas website you have to buy a certain package for factory nav. I have never seen a nav installed on a base model vehicle come standard.

This is so stupid and makes no sense. We have the same notification on our 2020 SR5 4Runner. We had a 2017 SR5 4Runner and it had navigation.

Yes. Thats one of the packages that has it. My SR5 doesn't bring it unless I pay for an added package.

Just my opinion but both carplay and Android auto are vastly superior to any OEM navigation program. They have similar on screen controls and far superior voice control. You can also choose between google maps and waze (and apple maps on iphone)

You can get premium audio in the SR5 with the TRD off-road/sport premium package.

I have to say I have the maps and CarPlay and I think the factory map is very nice. When on the freeway it shows you the upcoming exits and what is there like food and gas. I have not seen that in CarPlay.

So after talking to Toyota over the phone they are getting rid of the stock map app because of Apple car play and android auto maps. He said they are more accurate. When you plug in the phone you press maps and it takes you to it from whichever you have.

When I looked into it for my 2020 TRD Sport you have to have premium audio and download a navigation app that costs ~$24.99/year in order to use the navigation on the dash. I'll use my phone for free. I looked over my 'Navigation & Multimedia System' owner's manual for quite some time to figure that out. It was some map app from a company I had never heard of. I've used Garmin for years and I'm familiar with how they work so I won't change from them as long as they are still in business.

This bugs me so much cause the factory nah app available on our 2020 Sienna even though that has apple Car play as well.

I don't know about android, but apple car play works great for me. I prefer Waze and it works on the main screen so no fumbling with my phone... My SR5 didn't come with it either, but my mom's sienna has it and honestly it's subpar to the apps imo.

I have always used Garmin stand alone units. I was trying to say that I did not want to pay ~$24.99/year for a navigation app when I have several on my phone that I could use for free. None are Garmin but they are on my phone and they are free to use.
