Broken battery clamp...please help

    went to change my battery, the negative post is lead and came off no problem. The positive is copper/brass and broke once I tried to turn it the first time. For the life of me I cannot get this other bolt undone without further breaking it. I have a lead post clamp to replace the one piece if I can just get it undone. Anybideas? Oh, and I am pretty much a moron when it comes to working on cars. Thanks.

    Spray is good with WD-40, really let it soak in - see if that'll help you get that nut loose.

    Maybe it would be easier to just replace the whole cable; they're not that expensive.

    Maybe. Not really sure how to do that. But if I replaced the main cable, that bolt attaches a second cable that runs into the fuse box. So if I replaced one I still need to get that bolt off to reattach the second cable. I appreciate the help, like I said I don't really know much about working on vehicles.

    I had the same issue last year on my car. Getting an extra person to help is great. Have one with a pair of pliers or vice grip and grip the flat metal while the other person using a breaker bar or impact to loosen the nut. Then replace the battery terminal with one of these https://sdhqoffroad.com/products/sdhq-built-hd-billet-main-battery-terminal-upgrade-kit I bought OE positive and negative terminals and the prices weren't cheap.

    If your truck is anything like my 2014, they isn't much slack in the pos cable to cut it and put a different clamp on it.
    Another option would be use solderless connectors and extend the cables.
    Not sure what wire gauge you would need.

    Not a fan of TT but this video shows how he extended the cables to mount a non-F battery, has the posts reversed from the OEM battery.

    to answer the question at hand , WD 40 will help loosen it. if that doesn't work a impact and vice grips , or the best one is heat from a small torch heat the nut. being conscious of were your flame is directed. by heating up the nut it will expand making it easier to come off.

    a pro tip when dealing with stuck nuts or bolts is to use lube and slightly tighten and un-tighten back and forth breaking it free and it will preserve the threads.

    i never recommend cutting OEM wire's do to a potential fail or electrical gremlin that can develop.

    im eventually upgrading to a bus bar system over a standard post set do to a 2nd accessory fuse box and large electrical demand of my set up.
