Correct Spicer Carrier Bearing for 1st gen tundra EXACT TOYOTA OEM

Thats for the 2wd model. Some 4x4 folks have reported using it, but why not just get the correct one?

I just ordered the 2334 as well. Drivetrain america states this on their website about the 2334.

Yup. Read that this morning too. I cant believe how hard it is just to figure out if a part fits your vehicle. Spicer should have their own website for that shit

On the 2wd I'm pretty sure yours will be the 5002334. I returned it because mine is a 4wd and it's a sealed bearing, the bearing for the 2wd isn't sealed. GL

Good afternoon all... just wanted to chime in on this thread since I happened to find it very useful during my recent center bearing replacement.
So to start off, I had a severely worn out center bearing on my 05 2WD SR5 Crew Cab Tundra, but without any kind of vibration any speed, just a small chirping around the 5-10mph range when slowing to a stop. I started out with a new part from O’Rielly and let me tell you... DONT DO IT! After talking with our local driveline specialist here in Sac, CA, they said NOT to go with an auto parts aftermarket brand center bearing because it WILL FAIL. Well, it did, right out the gate! What happened was the rubber isolator just spun inside the cage. Feels so violent when driving ahhhahaha!
So the next day I went and picked up the correct part from DRIVELINE SERVICE in West Sac, and it was actually $10 cheaper than the auto parts store brand. The guys down there were very accommodating and took time to answer all my questions. It was very refreshing. Got back to the shop and replaced the bearing again, and this time it was butter! Just in time for the long weekend up to the hills pulling the boat and the family to the lake for a much needed break.
Good thing after all that though, O’reilly did refund me in full after taking back the used part and explained what happened and how it failed.

There seems to be a number of different parts. Some apparently are cross-compatible. Can we update this thread with some clarification on what fits each year and 2wd vs 4wd?

Toyota tells me I need part number 37230-34030 for my 06 Tundra 4WD.

This is the original carrier bearing from my Son's 2002 Tacoma. I replaced it last week, apparently it can be used on a Tundra as well.

 

Thanks guys now Amazon is sold out of the 5002007 lol everyone is going to have new carrier bearings after next weekend...we should meet up and see who's is shiniest haha

 

Yep, looks like the 37235-35030 which I'm thinking is the same as the 37230-0K030 or Spicer 5002007. What I can't figure for sure is if there's a different part number for 03 on Tundras.

 

Likely the same bearing used in some Tacomas. The 1st gen tundras were essentially stretched Tacomas. Many shared parts, or stretched versions of the same parts like axles. I have a Camry steering wheel and door handles too.

 

Haha yup. Taco driveshaft, axle, transmission. Taco steering, camry handles! Which i wish that wasnt case because we are using 4.7's which i would assume would wear out the tacoma drivetrain quicker. Kinda makes me want a taco!

 

Indeed it is kind of a shame since early Tundra Trans’ equipped with V8 were the same being used in an 4 and 6 cyl Taco, Supras too. The 4.7 made too much torque and power for the a340E and burned 2nd gear sprags and planetarys up.

Anyways back on topic, the Spicer 5002007 is back in stock on Prime and EBay. Hell, Rockauto had it for $47!

 

I hear what your saying, but theres plenty of pre 04 tundras hitting 300k plus so I'm not worrying about it too much. Maybe its such a good tranny its completely fine for the v8? Dont make me regret my decision

I can't believe how complicated this is! I've spent the last hour at my computer trying to find the right part number for my truck, verify it independently, and then find stock at a reseller. My truck is 2004, 4.7 V8, 4wd. When I started to feel a vibration under my feet at ~ 50 mph, I knew it was drive line not wheel related. I crawled my butt underneath this morning. The U joints are all tight, but I could move the shaft nearly an inch or so in any direction at the center bearing. So I'll change this first before I dig deeper.

I believe my OEM p/n is 67230-34030. I'm going to use Spicer 5002007. Dana makes this part, and there's a Dana p/n cross reference, but I gave up searching when I found stock for the 5002007 at Sparktec Motorsports.

If there's a unifying theme in all of the research I've done it's "Don't use aftermarket parts for this application!" I paid $70 for the Spicer part only because it's the OEM part. Had I not found stock I would have ordered the Toyota part for ~ $180

 

Good job sourcing direct. Had this thread been around when I did mine I’d do the same. I ended up with a Toy Part for the $180. Works good, though.

 

That's what I just ordered. The Spicer 5002007. I did the unthinkable and bought a cheap aftermarket unit. I could literally pull the bearing out of the isolator with 2 fingers. Thankfully they are accepting my return on that paper weight...

There's just some things you can't cheap out on...

 

The rubber was probably flimsy, too. I’ve seen pics of el cheapos blowing out in two months time.

 

Absolutely. As I was sliding the carrier onto the drive shaft, the bearing started pushing out of the isolator. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. I got the Spicer unit today and what a HUGE difference. Much better quality.

The Spicer part is indeed marked "Toyota 37235-35030". Yay!

 

The dana aftermarket parts site is showing that I need a 5016911 for a 2006 4x4 v8 double cab. But everyone else is reporting using the 5002334. Also the Toyota part number for mine is 37230-34030 and drivetrain America says the 5002334 replaces the 37230-34030. Which one do I need?

 

Read post 83 and then 88 and then report back what you think is the answer here.
