Do you think the left or right bed rail is sturdy enough to hold a 1Up roof rack (minus the cross bars) on utility brackets mounted to rail...and the bike of course.

Or would the moment be too much?

^^ I’m also on a newer Kuat, their hitch mounts are easy and solid, zero wiggle with their adjustment knob

Could fit 5-6 bikes this way. I can easily fit 4 and that leaves room for a Yakima Skinny Warrior Rack.
The killer part with this setup is all the bike racks. I somehow got the deal of the century and found some guy selling 5 Yakima Front Loaders for 250, for all of them!!! Tonneau is a Retax XR Pro with Yakima HD bars.

    Bikes on there:
    16" Commencal Ramones
    24" Raleigh Tokul
    29" Specialized Stumpjumper ST

That’s pretty much my exact set up. Or about to be. Need to install the cover just haven’t found the time.
how do you like the RetraxPRO? Get any leaking?

Holy shite.. That is an amazing deal. 250 for all of them, that is sick. I thought lucky found 1 for 100 haha. I use the 1 up for my bike and use the frontloader as a backup of for my son's bike.. Like the setup, very similar to mine.

Really good, a lot less leaking than when I a Bak Revolver X4 on my Tacoma. I installed it by myself in like 45 minutes. Set two 5 gal pails near the front, and install the side rails then just drop it down and slide it back. Also make sure if you have the cargo rack rails that you put the cleats where you want them. After you get the top on it's a pain to get them in there.

Looking to get a camper shell for a double cab. I ride an XL trail bike and want to carry/mount within the bed and camper shell.

Anybody have pictures of a bike inside the shell? I’m worried about the height.

What size bike is in there? Also what’s the height of the opening to put the bike? I’m looking to do the same but concerned about the height of my bike. Don’t want to drop money on a shell and it won’t fit.

Plenty of room if you run a dropper post and remove the front wheel with the fork mounted to the floor

Bike is mounted to a rail mount and the trike is just rolled in. There is also a dog trailer in there folded under the trike.

Sweet set up. I’m looking to do the same. Question, when you want to use the bed for loading do the racks detach simply or is it an ordeal? Also, when you roll the cover back does it impede any utility space? For example if I need to haul something large like a fridge or a bed full of branches. Thanks.

The 1UP rack is sick but there’s 1 small thing I don’t like.

The hitch tightening mechanism wedges the rack in the hitch and results in a slightly crooked/cocked position. It’s subtle but noticeable if you look closely.

Any issue with just laying it on my bedrug with maybe a strap to keep it from bouncing around?

I lay my Santa Cruz hightower in my bed like that without a strap or bedrug frequently, and havent ever had any problems. Just make sure the derailleur/hanger side is up of course!

Depends on what brand rack you go with. I went with Yakima and the if you have two people you can each grab a pair of ends and flip open the clips, removing the whole system as one. The cover rolls into a box at the front of the bed. It takes up about a 12" X 12" spot. There is still space under it, but you do loose a little space. The Retrax cover installs with 4 clamps that clamp it to the rails. It would be easy enough if you need the room to remove. Since owning this everything has fit in the bed quite easily. Thing I like most about the rack is I can go riding with the kiddos, then I can stop and do some grocery shopping/ pick up some mulch instead of making a second trip out. Could easily carry 5-6 bikes. I run 4 Yakima front loaders, with enough room for a Yakima Skinny Warrior rack. LOVE this setup.

Thanks so much. This is very helpful. Think i'm going to go with this set up! And good to know that it doesn't keep you from loading up mulch either. Have a great day!

Thanks for all the great posts! I have to say that my eyes were opened seeing some of the posts and the variety of equipment used. I have 4 or 5 different types of racks in the garage. Once I get the tonneau cover on the bed (soft) I think I will use 2 different types to carry the bikes, depending upon length to haul, and security requirements.

Hey can you put your tailgate when the bike rack is flat? Just
Wondering if the gate will hit the tops
    Of the trays?

I have to fold down the rack with and without a bike to be able to fold the tailgate down without hitting. It just barely touches the tailgate with it flat

Gotcha. I’m running a vertical rack right now. But I love the one up quality. The reason I ask is because my wife’s Kuat rack is the same with the tailgate just touching the tray. When this rack was on my older tundra the dog jumped in the tailgate and the rack dented the crap out of it . Trying to avoid that ...

It just barely touches to the point where without any weight on it the tailgate is fine, but as soon as the tailgate flexes even a little with weight on it, it scratches. Found that out the hard way.

I mounted 2 fork mounts to my diamond back. Works well for me and the cover still opens.
