    Hey all,
I’ve been searching and searching trying to figure out what tires manufacturers are the most accurate with their sizing. From what I gather Falken lists their 275/70/18 AT3w as 33.4 inches as opposed to the 33.2 of everyone else? Anyone have these tires in this size that can verify for me? Planning on putting them on my new ride with a boss aluma kit. Ultimately I want to get the “ biggest “ 275/70 that I can, and wondering what your experiences are with the Falken and maybe others in that size.
    Thanks guys!

I have these tires, and they I can't say they are bigger than all the competitors, but they are larger than Nitto Ridgegrapplers. I went with my wheel and tire set up because another member had the same wheels and had ridgegrapplers in 275/70R18, and he had no rub after removing the front air dam. (the little flap under the front bumper that everybody calls a mud flap) I bought the same wheels and same size tires, but did the Falkens and I had to remove the air dam, but I am also rubbing on the actual mud flap for the front wheels. My conclusion: Falkens are bigger.

Did your tires rub because of the wheel offset or lack of level? Or both? OP may not have the same config s as you.

I was just going off the fact that another member had a the same set up, but Nittos instead of Falkens and he had no rub on the mud flaps. The only difference was the tires, and I have rub. I think it was tire rack, or maybe discount tire's website that listed the actual height for the 275/70R18 AT3W's as 33.43" and the Ridgegrapplers as 33.19". I'm sure I could eliminate rub with a different offset (not an option on these wheels) or with a lift/level, but I could also eliminate it by going to Nittos in the same size.

TLDR, the OP was asking if Falkens are bigger in 270/75R18 than other brands, and in my experience this is the case.

What size wheel. not all 275/70 are created equal. Need the rim size to know the tire size. Wheel offset and lift/level options too.

Hmm, so then the Duratracs might be a bigger one as well. Good to know.

There are 2 different runs of Duratracs in 275/70. Tire rack has 2 that are BSW 1 that has the three peak and they measure 33.4 and one that has OWL and is 33.2....weird.

ThAnkyou all for the feedback. This is exactly the info I was looking for. I noticed the same thing as above with the Toyo AT3. One 275/70/18 is listed at 33.19, and one is listed at 33.43 depending on OWL or BSW...what the heck? keep the responses coming- this is good stuff...

I was actually debating between the Falkens and ridge grapplers- so this helps a ton. Thanks so much Man!
Love the sick gunmetal Ray 10’s by the way!

FWIW tire manufacturers usually measure with the tire at max PSI. So the actual height will vary with whatever PSI you run and the the weight of the truck sitting on them.

My experience with falken diameters is they have always been below what the sidewall said. Pretty sure this is true for a lot of tires (BFGoodrich).Though Cooper ST maxx, and some others measure true to size.

I also think when manufacturers measure they do so on a narrow wheel and use max tire PSI as well. Just about every tire I have ever had when mounted and running normal pressure was less then claimed. BFG ko's were the closest to size for me as well

It totally funny- I’ve read responses all over the board on different companies and their stated sizes. One guy says Nittos run small, another says they are right on. Anyone have measurements of Falkens on their truck, or Ridge Grapplers? Those are the 2 front runners at this point.

If you want superior foul weather traction go Falken. More off-road biased and want aggressive looks go Nitto. Nominal size differences shouldn’t be the deciding factor here.
Fwiw both sets of Falken have ran 3/4”-1” less diameter than stated. This was not a scientifically controlled study. Sizes sampled were 275/70/18 and 285/75/18 on stock wheels at 40psi. I even weighed the 275s and they were all within a pound of claimed weight iirc.

Haha. Sounds pretty scientific to me!! Falkens will probably be my next tire once the Coops run out

FWIW, I'm pretty sure Nitto says the Trail Grapplers in that size measure at 33.6".

    hmmmm....now the choice becomes harder.
I’m running a Boss kit at 2.5 in front and 1 inch shackle in the rear. I love the price and availability of the 275- but don’t want them to look to small...

I felt like the 275/70 Looked too small on stock wheels with my lift and. I’ve seen it look great with aftermarket wheels, but in my case I am happy I upsized to 285/75r18.

With the FWC I get 12 on a flat highway. I’d say I lost 1mpg per upsize approximately. So stock to 275/70 was 16-15, 275-285 15-14.

I guess I feel the need to mention this,

the tire specs listed on mfg websites are ideal conditions within the "labs"...not real world.

i bet youd be lucky to get close to 31.5" OD at 35psi mounted on the vehicle.

@AzureNightmare - ironically i have a slightly different experience with RG. When I was comparing a 35x12.5x17 in a Maxx and KO2 to a 285/75/17 RG - the graps were so damn close to the same OD as the 35s were. So, either the Cooper and BFG run extremely on the small side, or the Nitto ran over. I also took their 35x12.5 and they were significantly larger than the Cooper or KO2 in the same size. Just my personal experience.

I have seen pictures in other threads of Coopers and BFG’s running an inch smaller than stated size. Not surprised by that at all. thanks for the info.

I’ve also seen where the ST Maxx 295/70 is almost true to size. Guessing you’re speaking of the Cooper at3 XLT?
