Ive had my 2020 Tundra for just over a month. Within 24 hours, I was parked on a steep driveway when I opened rear passenger door, momentum and gravity (yeah no I F'd up) caused it to fully swing open and the door edge hit the door handle of my cousin's Xterra causing a 2" scratch at the door edge. Today, about about a month and a week into ownership, I set my new tonneau cover on top of the bed of the truck and didnt realize there was a clip sticking out that rubbed off paint above the passengers tail light about the size of a cheetoh. Im going to try my luck with some touch up paint but damn its frustrating! Especially being my first new car ever lol. Things could always be worse but just had to rant.

PS: And yes, I understand these are my fault which makes it that much more frustrating.

    I feel your pain.

Someone hit the rear bumper, which I replaced. A couple of days later I was blasting down a forest service road and a stick shot thru the newly replaced bumper.

Someone hit my tow mirror which dented the door.

    Two rocks to the windshield.

A rock hit the inner finder liner and fender, denting the fender and cracking the paint.

    All within a month.

Sorry dude. I feel your pain. I just scratched my roof because I didn’t realize what I slid up there had a metal rivet. Each scar tells a story though

I feel your pain. The first brand new vehicle is the worst. It's the one that will teach you that scratches, dings, and dents are inevitable and you just can't let it get to you.

My first brand new vehicle was a magnet. Within 2 months a friend backed into it, denting the fender and messing up paint, within the first 6 months some one got me with a hit and run that required a door to be reskinned, and after 2 years it had been hit and run twice more. Then, just when I was going to sell it and move to another new vehicle somebody raked the driver's side as they backed out of a parking space next to me. From the middle of the front door to the middle of the back door there was an 8 inch high gouge that ended in a dent the size of my head in the middle of the rear door. By that point I had just given up and I didn't care.

Since then I've had 3 other brand new vehicles, counting the Tundra, and only one of them didn't get scratched or dented. If you let it get to you, you will go crazy. I've just become pretty zen about it. You'll get there too... or you'll go crazy.

gotta get that first one or two out of the way. Then new ones won't bother you quite as much.

God, I wish i could actually subscribe to this. But I can't. If I get damage that I'm going to notice every day (and I notice almost everything), I have to fix it.

I bought my truck about a month ago from a forum member and it was 5+ years old, but pristine. It was as clean as my '17 4runner, and that's saying something.

Went on a 2+ week camping trip. And managed to get not one but two dents in the tailgate in the process. Already have an appointment to get them fixed. But, crap!

I have had really good results with the dr. Color chip touch up kits on all my vehicles. It’s tedious and time consuming but it works.

Had mine right about a year when some POS lost their exhaust in front of me. Clipped it with the front passenger tire. Caused it to bounce up and hit the front passenger door, the bed in front of the fender, and the fender. Luckily it missed the rear door and nothing went down to the metal. Have a nasty dent/slash about 10" long on the door but bed and fender barely noticeable. Need to find the time to get it fixed still. So pissed initially, but after a while you just get the mindset "it is what it is". Still sucks but not much you can do besides getting it fixed and moving on.

I don't understand you people. Everybody screws up but why post about your own screw up?
You can't blame gravity, you can't blame momentum, you can't blame poor powers of observation. Man up, say I f'd up and move on.

So we can all feel better about ourselves internally and then post witty comments to poke fun at each other. You ever hear the joke about how many engineers it takes to.....never mind.

I had mine just about three weeks. Storms were coming with hail. So I cleared some things in the garage and was backing it in. My wife was at the back of the garage waving her hands to come back. I was watching the camera and the right mirror. Then I hear her say “you’re scratching your truck!” I look in my driver mirror and the side shelf on my tool box was against the rear corner of the bed. If I had only told her to lift it off of the bed it wouldn’t have hardly been noticeable. But! I pulled forward and there was a very sharp edge on the bottom corner of the shelf and it dug a deep 4 inch scratch above the left tail light!
Bought some Toyota touch up and cleaned up the edges and painted it.

A year or so into owning our 1794, a neighborhood cat must have tried to get up on the hood to take a nap. He/she missed and clawed the shit out of the paint on the front passenger side fender. These long ass scratches down the side and through the clear coat. I touched it up the best I could but it was still noticeable to me. That's the kind of damage to my vehicles that I hate - the kind I didn't do.
