I've had my truck for about a year, and it only came with standard keys. During the key fob replacement thread a few months ago, I was told to contact the dealer to see if my truck came with the keyless entry option. The dealer said I didn't have it, so I stopped this endeavor.

A few weeks ago during a lower ball joint recall discussion here, I was told to enter my VIN at Toyota's website to see what recalls and repairs were done. While doing that, I found this:

So...what gives? Do I have keyless entry?

Yes, it would appear you do. There's a programming sequence you can check out to verify. Grab the correct attachment in this reply: https://www.tundras.com/threads/need-help-disabling-automatic-door-locks.33158/#post-1931311

If you follow the instructions there, and you get the 'beep' indicated, then you have keyless entry. You may not get the sequence right the first time, it took me 3 tries the first time when I wanted to re-enable the auto-lock-on-shift-to-gear mode for my truck. Mostly because I misunderstood you need to flick forward into ON (all the way forward) not ACC (one click forward)

That piddif attachment will help you get a new remote programmed. I ended up grabbing 2 spares on fleabay for $20/ea, then found the original for my truck when I popped off my center console, so I've now got 3 remotes.

Nah. This is new knowledge for me, courtesy of our resident Tundra-savant @Festerw by way of J's 4x4

If you go to the thread, Fester's reply #6 is the only reason I knew the rs3200 manual existed, and I wouldn't have known that unless J re-bumped that 2yr old thread.

Bringing this thread back up, I recently purchased a 2002 Tundra 4.7 Access Cab. The window sticker indicates that the truck has the "Convenience PKG W/Keyless Entry". So i decided to pick up a remote and try the programming.

Despite several attempts following the instructions at ProgramYourRemote.com, the truck is not accepting the sequence to enter programming mode.
Instructions (listed as 2003 model year): https://www.programyourremote.com/c...ey-programming-instructions-listing-6164.aspx

    Any advice?

    Thanks!
    Chris

Yes. Did you check the link in the 2nd reply of this thread? It's the manual for the factory system. I will tell you. The 1st time I tried to enter program mode, it took me about a dozen tries. The system is anal retentive. You need to time everything perfect and methods I found online sucked. I got it on 3rd try using the factory manual and carefully timing stuff.

Furthermore, especially if you're in the south central or southwest USA, look all up under the driver's side of the dash or in/near the driver side kick panel, make sure your dealer wasn't an a-hole and installed one of the KARR security systems. The main brain box is black, about 4"x6" in size and maybe an inch thick. The motion/vibration sensor box is half that size and blue. Both will have KARR embossed on the side.

Yes I did try that sequence a few times now, it appears to be what programyouremote.com has listed as well.

What i'm confused about, is that i've been reading in the other thread (https://www.tundras.com/threads/2002-tundra-key-fob-help-please.76045/ ), and there are folks that have had to locate the box under the kick panel, jump the wiring, etc.. that is for the RS3000 system. That said, the factory documentation for the RS3000 mentions having to press a green button, seems much more straightforward.

I'll try the sequence a few more times just to make sure i'm not doing anything wrong :) Maybe this just comes down to which system my truck has?

As always, thanks for the help!

PS - go click that link above again, 2nd reply. You'll find a programming file for the rs3000 system.

No worries. Maybe it's time to sticky something about keyless entry. I'll start thinking through that one. Please do follow-up over in this thread when you get there!
