Thanks, living dreams out here now sir :hattip:. We got lucky with covid interest rates under 2% to make it feasible.

I want to get a bow and start practicing. I’ve wanted one for ever, it’s just been at the end of the list. Now that I’m out of town, the bow priority has grown greatly haha.

They're a blast, even just for target shooting. I practice for close range grouse in my basement. I can get a 10 yard shot corner to corner. :D

What's on the menu for Thanksgiving dinner this weekend?

Neither The Woman or I are big fans of turkey or really the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We like ham, but since it's just the two of us this year I'm not gonna bother with cooking one. So we're doing t-bone steaks, my homemade mac'n'cheese in the cast iron dutch oven, cornbread in the cast iron pan, german potato salad and of course homemade apple pie.

Going to my parents' on Sunday and my wife's parents' on Monday. I'm thinking both dinners will be pretty traditional except that my mother in law always does pyrogies on top of everything else.

Immediate household only due to Code Orange and where my wife and I work with Covid Risk.

We will deliver a couple plates to parents.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, bacon corn hash and a few other vegetable dishes I'm sure. Hopefully a homemade pie or cake for dessert. Off work until Thursday...woop woop.

Definitely a different Thanksgiving for us, but we are still very thankful we are all healthy, safe, employed and doing well.

Real cabbage rolls don't have meat in them. And they're made with sour cabbage.

My Austrian grandmother puts meat in hers and tomato sauce over top. My Ukrainian grandmother does not.

Mom (Danish) used to make them with rice and beef filling, wrapped in cabbage and then baked in a tomato sauce

As a kid, I only ate the filling, never the cabbage wrapper. I'm an old fart now, so enjoy cabbage and will have to see if I can get her recipe to make them for our kids.

I grew up in a family of German/Ukrainian heritage. I never developed a taste for cabbage rolls. Must be because I'm adopted. LOL

It's my blood ancestry that allows me to stay. It's lucky I know my birthmom and her family. LOL. Our ancestors were among the first off the boat into Canada in the early 1600's then fur trappers, settlers, farmers and ranchers as they worked their way west.
