    Hi All,

Been lurking around a lot the last few weeks and love the forum. I want to replace my stock 2015 platinum wheels & tires. I've pretty much decided on 275 60 20 or 275 65 18 all terrains (I know kind of boring...I do not want to lift it, at least yet). If you run these tires, please post a pic. Those of you running 275 60 20 tell me about how the truck rides and feels compared to stock....cornering, acceleration/seat of your pants power difference, etc. If I can find the trd pro BBS forged wheels I would be inclined to go that route, but I'm really torn on which look I like better.

Thanks in advance for your help!

woodenfoot - I think it's probably best to choose a tire that's in both sizes first to do the comparison. The lower sidewalls on the 20" wheels do allow for better agility on the road compared to the thicker sidewalls of the 18" wheel.

For me, ultimate functionality, ride quality and handling were the most important attributes, so I tried to optimize on the weight and went with a relatively light-weight AT -> Nokian Rotiiva AT's in 275/55/20 on the factory 20" alloys. I will likely swap out for the same tire but in 275/65/18 to use on a set of lightweight 18" forged alloys so that I can further improve ride comfort, acceleration as well as fuel economy.

Thanks. Looks like the Nokian Rotiiva is a nice AT tire. If it's easy and you're willing post a pic. I hear you on "ultimate functionality" and of course we all define that a little different. For me, I'm willing to give a little on road handling for gaining slightly better off road capability. I don't serious off road or anything, but I'll use four wheel drive a couple times of year, hunting, dirt biking, etc.

woodenfoot - Given what you've described, if you're not towing anything perhaps this or the newer Nokian Rotiiva AT+ would work for you. This is a 117T XL load rating. I don't tow enough to justify using an E-rated 10ply tire.

Thanks....I do like that tire. I don't tow much either, don't need E-Rated....they ride pretty stiff too. I'm really leaning towards 275 60 20 for the slightly taller side wall.

woodenfoot - hopefully you have the 5.7L so you have more torque to rotate the slightly larger tire. I have the 4.7L so I want to keep things low weight as possible. Plus, the handling is already boat like enough. :D coming from the world of high powered Subarus and other sport compacts it's always a bit of an adjustment when driving the Tundra,

I do have the 5.7L...My son bought my 07 4.7L and I still love that truck!
Hoping one size taller I won't notice much performance difference. Maybe someone with 275 60 20 all terrains will chime in. I have time...need to wear out my michelin defenders first.

275/60r20 Falken Wildpeak AT3W (4ply p rated) on stock suspension. Had the 275/55r20s on it before and I can say the 275/60s rode better having more sidewall. No difference in handling or performance that I could tell

Mine came stock with 285/55R20 KO2s. I replaced them with 275/60R20 AT3 XLTs. I rarely tow but got the 10 ply because I wanted a LT tire with sidewall protection. Stock black non-offroad suspension. Rides and corners fine for me.

Let me know what you go with. I'm in the same position on performance wise. I have 305/50r20 right now and I want something softer. 275/60r20 falken wildpeak at3w is what I might go with.

Will do...the falken wildpeak is very attractive to me too. I'm still loving the idea of 275 60 20, but I did see some 18" wheels on trucks recently that looked great. I take the long way through parking lots these days looing at wheels and tires

PS - Again, if anyone has good pics of your truck (preferably not lifted) with 275 60 20 or 275 65 18, would love to see 'em. I found a really cool tool on the prowheels website that give you good looks of various wheels on your truck, even color of your truck, but nothing beats the pics on here of course : )

This is 275/60R20 AT3 XLTs on stock SR5 suspension.

Awesome...thank you! I have MGM too, perfect...looks great. How do you like the ride? Are those LT/e-rated? Any rubbing or did you have to trim anything?

Yes they are E rated. I came from stock KO2s which are D rated. To me they ride better than the KO2s. I don't remember what a Tundra feels like on anything rated lower than D. My '10 and '17 both came with KO2s and were replaced with LT tires. No trimming at all. I was debating 275/65 but couldn't get a clear answer on whether trimming would be required.

Gotcha, thanks. My research seems to indicate so far that you will have some rubbing with 275/65. Anyone with thoughts/experience with 275/65 20 please chime in and with pictures if you have 'em. I would love to go 275/65 if it didn't rub with all terrains and if I didn't have to lift it.

Just sold my 20’s for 18’s. Ride is much improved. Doesnt corner as well but a tundra is a bit of a loaf to begin with so not too worried.

I just drove home on my new Nitto Ridge Grappler 275/65/20 on 3/2 lift SR5 only. No rubs and it added 1" lift. No complaints here. Quiet tire but a little bumpier ride so far.

Top is before lift. Bottom is with 3” Toytec spacers and 1” block with 1.25” Spidertrax wheel spacers
Tires are BFG KO2s AT 275 60R20. Had no rub before spacers. After spacers had to remove front flap due to rubbing.

truck came from dealer with 285 55R20 KOs and were great with 65K before having to change. Ended up with 275 60 KO2s for replacement.

Acceleration feels better with 275 but not as planted on corners compared to 285. Taking corners fast felt better on 285s

Acceleration felt better with 275/60r20 as in it felt faster than the slightly wider tire???

Interesting...thanks for sharing the experiences. Truck looks awesome...keeps me leaning towards 275 60 20. Before I started all this I thought there was no way I was doing anything but 18" wheels. Fun taking my time to decide.

Looks great! Like the OP I have been debating going with 18's or keeping the 20's and having them power coated. Decisions, decisions...

this thread was very helpful, now I just need to find out if I need 116T or 123S for the Falken wildpeaks
