Dirty Deeds BA mufflers VS TRD Pro exhaust

Hi everyone

Yes I know you've all seen this thread before but i gotta ask. What are your thoughts and experiences with these two systems? Looking to upgrading the stock muffler on my tundra. Been hearing alot of good things about the BAmufflers but a little hesitant because not sure if its legal and wont affect the emissions when smogging comes around which is why im also interested in the TRD exhaust. Let me know what are your opinions, thanks!

I’ve never had BAMufflers so I can’t comment on it, but I’m pretty sure you’ll pass all inspections with it.

I just installed DDs 10” exhaust. It appears to bolt up to the CAT, so emissions shouldn’t be affected.

It is awesome, and very quick to install.

I will hang onto my stock exhaust JUST in case...

The resonator is the biggest benefit to the dirtydeeds ones. That 1800 rpm drone is bad enough on the stock '14+ muffler and I can only imagine what it's like with the TRD glasspacks. Then again I have sensitive hearing or at least that's what the annual hearing tests I go through say. I put a resonator from Keith on mine behind the factory muffler and at some cruising speeds it's so quiet I cannot hear the engine. At all. It's very eerie. Just the driveline whirr and the wind buffeting behind the mirrors.

I had the TRD exhaust and removed it after a couple of years and bought Keith's setup. So much happier with it and could tell a difference in the response. Wish I did it from the beginning.

 

Does anyone know if I have the stock non-TRD exhaust, can I put the in the replacement system? I know I'll have to buy the TRD Tailpipes (Part # PTR03-34106). I'm fine with doing that.

Would that be all I need if I want the DD TRD replacement system?

 

Are you looking to go to the dual exhaust? I went from the TRD dual back to a single DD for performance. I did have to use a stock tailpipe that I added a TRD black chrome tip to.

do you want duals or stock tailpipe. Some people really want the duals

 

Yep. That's what I'm mainly after. I've been researching and found out that the TRD exhaust has a drone on the freeway and lose out on some low end torque. The DD TRD replacement system takes care of both of those things.

 

I bought the TRD for my truck and not happy. Drone the live long day.

 

Had TRD duals, BAM 8 (single outlet) and BAM 12 (single outlet). BAM 12 - which is what I currently run - is my favorite.

 

I'm from California as well have had the 8 inch Dirtydeeds muffler for 3 yrs now and have been awesome. No issues with emissions

You don’t happen to have a video/sound clip of the 12” system do you? I finally killed the drone on the stock system with the DD resonator, now starting to get the itch for something a tad throatier ...

 

I don’t have video/sound, but I’ll see what I can do.

 

This is not mine, but another member posted video of his 12 inch system from a previous group buy. No video is as good as real life, but this captures the sound as good as video can - probably better than anything I could do.

I have the BA muffler on my 2004 and it passes emissions

 

Now that Ive had the OE TRD dual, the TRD dual with DDs budget replacement (no mufflers, x-pipe), and recently the DD budget single system (no muffler) I can say I've noticed this. The OE TRD will work for pretty much most people, its mild and sounds good. The dual without mufflers and a x pipe was by far my favorite. The x pipe tones down just enough drone and adds a really nice tone. It also popped and crackled like crazy, on demand even.

The DD budget single system make noticeably more power than the dual did. The truck feels lighter and just feels more robust and just about any power range. It also drones, enough to be too much for most people. I think at some point I might go to the dual long system Keith makes because it incorporates a x pipe.
