I'm looking to upgrade the system and I wanted to know what kind of door speakers everyone else is running.

I asked a guy at crutchfield and he said that he didn't have any 6x9s that were even compatible

What are you guys running in your tundra?

Also, what sub and sub box?

I do have a TRD Pro with JBL. I'm going with my own option

I got the DSR1, and I'm going to get a new amp and sub. I was looking for door speakers that fit the door without too much modification

I went with the OEM Audio+ system. Others run the DSR1 with new amp and subs. I think Hertz speakers for the doors are popular for the system your putting together.

I put these front and rear in my 2015 and as for the subs and boxes, I went with taco****tunes

Tech12Volts/Taylor's Audio Sound System: Kenwood DMX1057XR head unit, Infinity Reference 5-ch amp, Hertz CK165L front, Hertz K170 rear, 2 JL Audio W0 10" subs in ported box behind seat, bass knob.
I have the Hertz K165 components that came with the Tech12Volts complete package and they are super loud and clear. I keep hearing sounds in songs that I didn't know existed before! The woofer is mounted in the stock 6x9 location in the doors. The front tweeters take place of the stock ones in top front corners of the front door and the rear tweeters require a hole to be cut and they are installed at the top of the door near the door handle. I am very happy with them and I think they retail for only $99 a set. Definitely a bang for your buck option, but I am sure that there are all kinds of crazy expensive high end ones out there. The way I look at it, if you are going to do door speakers only, you should go big and get something with good bass. If you're going to get subs too, if you want to save some money you can get something like these since you only need highs and mids, and your bass will come from your subs. That's my thinking at least. I am far from an audiophile.

I went with 6.5” JL C1 components front and rear. I’ve been happy with those.

For subs I went with James from Tech12Volts. I’m running 2 10” JL W0 in his custom TRD box.

I have Focal in the front doors and JL audio in the back doors. I like the sound of the Focal better, but they are both good speakers. Crutchfield had the Focal on sale for the same price as the JL when I purchased them. But...they don't handle low end base all that well. So you might think of adding a sub. I have two 10" infinity subs behind the seat, but one is probably good enough.

6x9’s fit; you just have to make sure they aren’t too deep. Get 2 ohm if you can. Many do 6.5” components and I tried but there wasn’t enough sound for me. I went with Memphis audio 6x9’s to handle some bass response as well

    Alot of them
6x9's will fit in the front. There is a mounting adapter and spacer depending on which speakers you buy. I have Rockford Fosgates in mine. A big upgrade would be getting rid of the factory head unit. That thing sucks a$$.

Are you using the stock head unit? I swapped it out for a CarPlay Kenwood unit and was absolutely blown away at how big of a difference it made in sound quality. The installer at the speaker shop kept complimenting how good it sounded without changing the speakers.

These fit..tight! Had to slightly shave the inner side of the door panel and the magnet is against the window guide.

In the Harley Bagger world, it's really hard to get speakers to sound good over 70 mph. What I currently run on my CVO Road Glide are Hertz HCX 165 speakers and MMats PA601s.
As always, as soon as I hooked up the MMats PA601 speakers which were the latest and greatest. The "NEW" must have speaker is Ground Zero Yellow basket speakers. If speakers sound good on a bike, they will sound super in a truck/car.

Just my .02 cents worth of info.

These are the newest & greatest speakers for Harley Bagger world right now.

Ground Zero used MMats PA601 Speakers to base this new speaker after.

I completely gutted the crap JBL system in my Platinum. I went with Kenwood Excelon XR-800P 7" components in all 4 doors and they absolutely rock my truck! For my box, I went with the tried and true Tech12Volts ported 10" sub enclosure from James. Couldn't be happier.

    Good Morning Sir.

I bet your bike sound great with that set up! I love the Hertz Speakers. My "YELLOWBIRD" is powered by a Stringer Amp SPX700x4 with no FM loss. Even through I listen to Pandora more then FM, or CDs. IF I am listening to anything at all.

Sadly, Believe it or not, this is the only photo that I have taken since install!

I went with cdt es6 in all the doors, and use stock tweeters for now cause it got too damn cold to work on it.

My first set of new speakers for my 07 was a set of 6x9 subs. I was going to put them in the front doors, but decided to go another route. I still may install them though in the future if I keep my truck.
