Should have just bought the Platinum!
Anyone have a solution to prevent my stock OEM head unit from auto playing iPhone music app? Upon starting my rig the head unit connects to my iPhone via bluetooth which is good - but then it connects and plays random songs from my iPhone's music app.

    Driving me crazy! o_O:crazy::frusty::goingcrazy:

    Details:
    • Stock OEM head unit w/entune
    • Non JBL setup
    • Non navigation unit
    • Using iPhone 6sPlus
    • Software up to date
    • Connects via bluetooth

I believe under APPS setting on the HU
    You can toggle off Auto-play
    Apps>general>settings
I’m not at the truck right now but I’m pretty sure that’s an option.

Mine won't auto play if my music app is closed in the back round, hope that makes sense.

    Some like...stuff and things.
Mine was doing the same thing and I fully deleted the music app from my phone. I never really used it anyway, and always opened Pandora instead. It seriously was the most annoying part of owning an iPhone.

Do you mean the physical button that says APPS on the head unit?

Yep, makes perfect sense. Thank you! It auto plays even when the Music app is not running in the background. Weird, right?

Man! Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Was starting to lose my mind - more than I already have. LOL

I would delete it too - but my kids audiobooks for road trips / car rides are all stored on my phone and in the native iPhone music app. Otherwise, I'd totally ditch that POS app to save my sanity. haha

Yes. To disable music from iPhone.
Select “Apps” then “setup” then “Bluetooth”
You’ll see your phone listed with two icons on the end PHONE and a Music note. Click your phone name or the music icon which ever works.
Then you’ll have the option of
    -disconnect as phone
    Or
    -disconnect as music player

once that’s done it’s easy to reconnect when you want music .
Hit “Audio” select the “Bluetooth” connection. Tap “select Device” and tap the “music note “ icon. It will reconnect.

and as stated earlier mine doesn’t connect
if the music app is shutdown (not running in background) on my
    Phone. it won’t auto play.

IT WORKED!!! Thank you for taking the time to type out all the detailed instructions.

I will have to manually connect each time but - WAY better than it auto playing kids stories! Haha

The HU can be even more devious than with Apple music. On Android it seems random which app it will choose to play audio when bluetooth is brought up. Once I got in the truck and drove off not thinking twice about no music playing. Then I get this angry phone call when I'm a half mile away. Turns out the radio connected bluetooth to the phone on startup, the random app the phone decided to open was Youtube, the phone was still in range of the WiFi I was just on, Youtube found the smart TV on the network, and told the TV to shut off the gf's Netflix programme and replace it with a Minecraft how-to video.

And all I heard was silence until I answered the call.
