Has anyone purchased the ADARAC M Series Black Matte Sport Truck Rack? Looking to buy something like this, so when my family goes to the lake I can have to layers of storage. If you have it can you tell me how you like it, and if you'd recommend it. I like the fact that you can have these racks installed and still have the Tonneau capability. Thanks for the help

It looks like these racks use the stake holes for installation, and as long as you have a tonneau cover that still allows access to the stake holes you should be good to go.

The "practicalist" in me is wary of the aluminum version of the rack, it looks like the uprights are simply 90 degree-bent plates of aluminum.... I would not want much weight and/or side loading on those otherwise they'll probably bend. I would be more comfortable with gusseting.

The steel one is probably fine, but also dependent on what you're planning on mounting to it.

There also is the KB Voodoo setup which works with the integrated deck rail system if you have it, and thus you don't have to punch out the stake holes in the bed caps. https://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/toyota-tundra-hi-rise-crossbars-for-use-with-tonneau-covers

@Oats87 Thanks for the input. The specs show that they can handle up to 500 lbs. I would never put that much weight on them. I would attached a basket and put things like a tent, cooler, etc. on it.

Yeah, understood. I actually edited my original post to add some more opinion to it.

What I like about these ones is, on face value, the up rights are removable leaving you with a fully functional bed, but don't look too ridiculous hanging out. The KB Voodoo rack leaves the uprights sticking out of the bed, which kind of defeats the purpose of the full removability, I would have preferred a version that also allowed the uprights to be removed.

I'm currently hunting for a solution that will allow me to do an 80/20 split of mounting a bed-top-tent, but also give me the option to take it off and get my bed back with the tonneau cover in place 100% of the time.

Not sure about your stuff, but my cooler and contents is over 100 lbs by itself then add a 60 lb tent, chairs about 40-50, just sayin it can add up quick. Be realistic so you don't hit a big bump and the bounce causes a sudden collapse. Good luck. For temporary once in a while use I would build one out of 2x4's that can easily bolt together in 30 min and sit inside the bed with the cover kept open. Get back home unbolt it and stack it up until next trip. No holes in bed rail pads. Just my opinion.

@2mchfun Stop putting so much beer in your cooler. :) 100 lbs Geez, that seems a bit much unless you have a cooler that's 5' x 2' filled with beer and ice that will last you a month!

LOL I mean, an RTIC/YETI 65 (or really, any roto-molded cooler) would easily tip 100 lbs loaded, cause the coolers themselves are heavy AF

Yes, big coolers. Catch a lot of fish when at the lake or river. Plus we eat many good meals and snacks. I Don't go anywhere for a few hours, always days.

I plan on buying this same bed rack. I have a revolver X4 and need additional storage for vacationsor camping. I like the fact I can still use the X4 and lock the tailgate to keep stuff somewhat safe and dry.

With how little I plan to use mine, I’m going with the harbor freight one. I’ve read on tacomaworld about people using them and modifying them with good success.

I bought the same one and the taller ladder rack for carrying my canoe in summer time and my cargo box for winter use with my ice shelter in it. Got it a couple days ago and it being -18 for a high, its been sitting in my garage until it get above zero... . I do plan to make some shorter brackets maybe 3 inches or so, to make the cargo box at bit more aero dynamic, mounting it backwards. I don't need to open up the tonneau in winter time, its just a pain trying to get all my gear in the truck bed at an angle. Recommend to load these up with light bulky stuff, and keep the heavier stuff in the bed or in a hitch carrier basket to lower the center of gravity.

So got time to install the rack to use with my soft roll cover. Adding the cargo box which fits my ice shelter perfectly and gained back half my truck bed. The bars are 12 inches off the bed if memory serves me right.

    20210226_140833.jpg

Since ice fishing season is over i have switched to the taller bars to carry my canoe. Waiting for the saddle brackets to keep the canoe upright as the ends on my alumacraft curve up and would hit the cab if carried upside down.

Sofar so good the rack seems stable. I might put the shorter ones back on with a cargo rack if i go camping to carry some lighter bulky gear.

I haven't. I was waiting for the road salt to go away. I did find a bunch of picks of the X4 with the same rack. I'll post pics when I get it installed.

I could use with tall bars like that for kayak, how does it mount to the truck?

The reason i picked this one is its compatible with my tonneau cover. The adarac uses the stake pockets, which are covered by the plastic bediner. Once you cut those you mount the bottom rail which you attach the upright.
