Yes that’s the one. Shouldn’t have a problem with grass we have a small piece of grass and my kid was ripping thru it. I don’t see small hills being a problem either. Check out the YouTube videos. Some people bash them pretty good to prove they are one of the top cars for 100. Also it comes with a battery and charger. I would buy spares or if you have other cars it does let you plug in lipo battery’s and it gives it a little more juice to the motor.

Only problem with the off brand ones is replacement parts. One way or another something is going to break. You want something that your going to be able to find parts for and keep driving it. Traxxas slash is one of the most popular for that reason (I own 3 LOL) parts are available at any given time and aren’t that expensive. You can make those thins super fast also.

What @fisherman951 says, it will happen!
2 of my rc vehicles I broke with 24 hours due to having way too much fun and not knowing the vehicle yet. Being able to find parts saves you from having to buy a whole new toy lol

Question for every one with RC cars, what battery charger are you using?
On another note, doing big things #kinggang

My 5 year old starting with some baby jumps but he’s having a blast. I put in a 2s lipo battery for him.

    Glad I found this thread.

I had a Stampede VXL for a few years, built out to 1:8 with aluminum chassis. I regret selling that. The Stampede is a blast 70% of the time and a catastrophic yard-sale the other 30%.

Now I've got a 2wd Slash VXL and just recently purchased a LaTrax Prerunner for my 4 year old. She has a crawler but wants to go fast!

Heck to the yea. I just got in to it as my covid 19 sanity check. My kids love it. I have 2 slash ultimate and 1 HCG 4x4. Putting a new motor in to my sons, and then putting the used motor on the better. Mine will be getting a castle upgrade soon.

I think a 2wd Slash is the most fun you can have with an off-road RC.

I've owned the Stampede, driven a Hoss and Revo, but nothing compares to the Slash.

I went about 8 years between the Stampede and the Slash. I'm glad to be back into it. And having my daughter just as excited about it is really neat.

When you can't find what you want in stock anywhere.....

    www.whiterosehobbies.com

I'll recommend Traxxas just based on my trucks and friends trucks. Amazing support. Tons of aftermarket. Very easy to find parts online or LHS.

Go brushless right off the bat. For Traxxas that means the model must designate VXL. Maybe try to find used, but only if the controls are 2.4ghz.

Find yourself an ultimate. Has all the upgrades you need. Send it. If something breaks then replace. I have gotten all mine used for about 300 or less, or working some bartering in lol.

thanks for the advice, the Traxxas stuff is just too expensive for me I think, to get a ready to run truck 1/10 scale seems to be north of 200 and the VXL seem to be more than that.

    they seem pretty nice though.

    Hey man,
Don't look down on the Turbo Hopper, had one myself and it was tough as nails! Ate batteries like mad, but those twenty minutes of fun were a blast back in about 1984 or 85! I later graduated to a Tamiya Road Wizard Formula one and it was about 20 times faster than the Turbo Hopper, but the price was also about ten times as much. Back then that was a lot of cash for young kid and I will never forget those days. Still have the car and parts in my attic. Now I have a Grave Digger with a motor on each wheel which is really cool and a Herby Bug with full hydraulics which is also really cool.

    Those Kings looks sweet!

I've been using the Traxxas fast charger, there is a deal I caught somewhere for the charger and 2 batteries $199. I like it because it has different options for fast charge, balance charge, discharge, or storage charge.

I have both, but my rustler has been injured for a few years. The rustler kills the slash on jumps but I like the slash better for handling, especially once I ditched the progressive coils for linear.

I'm trying to decide if I bring the rustled back to life or just buy a crawler. I have a mini crawler and learned to appreciate slow.

Haven’t heard many good things besides they look good lol but we won’t know until I try them. I’m trying to lean away from traxxas bats and chargers as they are always more expensive then any other battery.
