    My 2016 Tundra has the 4WDemand Part-Time 4WD w/Elec Controlled Transfer Case, A-TRAC & "Auto LSD"

I just bought the truck with 60K miles and all the services was done at the dealer but it doesn't look like the gear oil was ever changed.

My owners manual says to use LT 75-85 GL-5, I can't tell if the LT fluid is for limited Slip or not.
I have looked at a-lot of the posts and it seems like most people have open diffs.

"Auto LSD" isn't really a limited slip, I thought? Someone will chime in that knows better.

Correct - don't need the LSD diff oil version which Toyota calls LX.

I've undertaken the task of changing my front/rear diff oil along with transfer case oil on my own so I have been researching a little. Various videos on YouTube say to use 75W-90 on differentials but 75W for transfer case and that's what manual recommends too. I was buying local and went to the Toyota here in Midland, TX. Parts lady said they only carry and use the BG brand Syncro Shift II 75W-80 on vehicles there and never heard of "75W" rating.
I'll probably return this unless I find something saying it's ok to use. I don't do much offroading in my crewmax unless muddy.
Can anyone enlighten on that dealership BG brand transfer case oil?

So, if this sticker is on your rear differential cover, it’s a limited slip differential.6FAE5ACC-AC64-4DC9-BD6C-68F6DFFBF317.jpg

Just changed the gear oil in my rear differential 3 days ago. Mine is 2WD so no front diff to worry about. Called 2 dealers and one said to use 75W140 and the other said only use 75W90. I went to my local wally world and they only had one bottle of 75W90 but several 75W140 bottles. I said what the heck ... and bought 4 bottles of the 140. Was Valvoline synthetic with the LS additives. I was told that it doesn't matter if it has the LS additive or not since it won't really hurt the differential. Installed the bottles and truck seems very smooth. It is hot here most of the year and I tow once in a while so not too worried about the heavier weight gear oil.

At what mileage do we even have to change these fluids? My manual doesn't have the intervals for these

I think I read somewhere that it was 25-30K for "severe service". I presume that means heavy towing. I plan on changing mine about every 50K since I don't tow all the time. Doesn't take long to do and I can chase my grandkids around while it drains. :)

Depends on what you do and how hard you work it.

I bought mine used and changed it out at 80k just to be safe...

My pumpkins looked like foamy caramel and my transfer case looked good to go. But changed it anyway.

No, they do not require the lsd additive to run properly. The rear brakes are what do the slowing of wheel speed. Instead of a locker it slows the wheels to simulate locking..

This photo has been moved over from the Gen 1 forum, it is of my 2006 TRD. My guess is it is different from the 2015’s and might not be applicable to the 3rd Gens.
