I was able to get a 3 inch lift but they told me to come back after 700-800 miles once the coil over got some miles on it so they can adjust it some more. The a leaf system is a little high they told me could take 1 off next time im in so the truck even out. Make sure you get a front diff if you are going over 2.5 -https://

Is the main downside to maxing out preload decreasing ride quality? What is the optimal setting for this kit?

Ride quality, less down travel, voided warranty. Although their warranty is a joke anyway, so take that for what you will.

Interesting thanks for sharing. So it’s ideal to leave it around 2 inches of lift? I am wondering if I installed this kit, and I have a heavy front bumper, if it would be better to add some shims to the front?

Yes that. Higher spring rate, like 700 lb, is what you’ll want with a heavy bumper and/or winch.

Not 2” of lift, but more so 2” of threads showing.
